1913

1913 The Chamberlayne School In the beginning

1916

1916 Aubrey Russell Bowles, Jr. and boys

1924

Our school was founded in 1924 by the Franciscan Sisters.

1928

St Christopher Parish began in May 1928 as a Mission of St John de La Salle Parish in Niagara Falls.

1935

On July 2, 1935, Bishop William Turner, recognizing the growth of the Mission, changed its status to a parish and appointed Fr.

1944

On February 27, 1944, Monsignor William Solleder was appointed pastor of the rapidly expanding community.

1947

During World War II, the Home closed briefly and then reopened in 1947 under the auspices of the Diocese of Brooklyn, when it was renamed St Christopher’s Home.

1967

In 1967, Foster Home Program begins; the first home is licensed.

1978

In 1978, Center for Family Life opened in Sunset Park, Brooklyn to promote positive outcomes for children, adults and families through a comprehensive range of neighborhood-based family and social services.

1985

In December 1985, Monsignor Francis G. Weldgen was appointed pastor and the parish began a new period of growth.

In 1985, St Christopher’s Home merged with the Briarwood, Queens-based Ottilie Home for Children, which cares for adolescents with serious emotional needs and developmental disabilities.

1986

The Parish Council was recreated in November 1986 spurring development of numerous organizations and committees.

1988

In the Spring of 1988, a committee was organized to consider renovation and expansion of the church.

1996

A second merger took place in 1996 with Madonna Heights Services in Dix Hills, Long Island.

1999

In 1999, St Christopher-Ottilie merged with Family Dynamics, an organization in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn dedicated to improving the lives of children by strengthening families struggling with poverty, abuse, teen pregnancy and drug addiction.

2007

He provided the leadership that guided us through a successful merger with St Edmund Parish in September 2007.

2015

In June 2015, Father Steve Jekielek became Pastor of St Christopher Parish & School.

2022
