Job Summary
Enforces local, state, and federal laws and conducts pro‐active patrols to ensure personal safety,
and real property and equipment security throughout the County. Serves as the first‐responder to
crime scenes and accidents, prepares reports, preserves evidence, and provides legal testimony as
required.
Starting Wage Range: $28.75 per hour to start, based on experience - full time
This position works an 84-hour per two-week pay period.

Responsibilities and Duties
Performs security patrols, traffic control, detection, investigation and arrest of persons involved in crimes or misconduct.
Responds to emergency radio calls and investigates all types of incidents.
Investigates and renders assistance at scene of vehicular accidents. Summons ambulances and other law enforcement vehicles. Takes measurements and draws diagrams of scene. Interviews suspects, witnesses and drivers. Preserves evidence.
Conducts follow‐up investigations of crimes. Develops leads and tips. Carefully searches scenes of crimes for clues. Analyzes and evaluates evidence and arrests offenders. Prepares cases for giving testimony and testifies in court proceedings.
Prepares a variety of reports and records.
Undertakes community oriented road work, and assists citizens with such matters as motorist
assists, crime prevention, drug education, traffic safety, etc.
Coordinates activities with other deputies or other County departments as needed, exchanges information with officers in other law enforcement agencies, and obtains advice from the County Prosecuting Attorney regarding policies and procedures.
Maintains contact with Law Enforcement supervisory personnel to coordinate investigation
activities, provides mutual assistance during emergency situations and provides general
information about Law Enforcement division activities.
Maintains departmental equipment, supplies and facilities and the accountability for same.
Serves as a member of various committees under the direction of the Sheriff.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Previous completion of Police Academy required
Associates degree in criminal justice or closely related field preferred
Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) Certified.
Certified in the following: Firearms qualification, CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, LEIN certification, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Defensive Tactics, Unified Incident Command Training, Data Master, Radar, and Standard Field Sobriety Testing.
Possess a Valid Michigan Driver's License.
Special Requirements:
Ability to meet Department's physical and physical fitness standards.
Ability to pass a medical exam, drug screen and psychological evaluation.

Job Summary:
Supervises residents and ensures them a safe and secure environment. Activities include processing resident intakes and discharges, supervising recreational activities, teaching proper hygiene and conduct, monitoring resident behavior, intervening in crisis situations and documenting incidents and resident interaction.
Wage: $24.74 per hour to start, no benefits, variable schedule, as needed, up to 19.5 hours per week

Supervises residents to ensure compliance with facility rules. Addresses noncompliant behavior by coaching and teaching approved theory and therapy techniques. Support youth with emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
Processes resident intake. Documents all required resident personal information. Conducts personal searches of residents. Logs all resident personal items and stores any items not allowed in the detention center away from residents until they are no longer living at the detention center. Orients new residents and parents to the facility; explaining the philosophy, policies, procedures and program rules.
Education and Experience:
Two years of college (30 semester hours) towards a social science or human services related degree is required OR High School Diploma / GED Equivalent with two years of work experience in a child / adolescent care facility or closely related setting.
Bachelor's degree in a social science or human services field is preferred.
Current unencumbered Michigan Driver's License with no more than one traffic violation in the last 12 months.

* May participate in 24-hour and weekend/holiday on-call emergency flood and environmental response system on a rotational basis.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Inspects and evaluates premises and establishments having public health significance to ensure compliance with food and sanitary regulations.
Prepares reports and correspondence pertaining to all environmental health activities. Approves licenses and issues permits for facilities.
Investigates complaints involving possible water pollution or contamination.
Inspects licensed food service establishments for cleanliness, proper food handling practices, and compliance with sanitation standards. Inspects and licenses temporary food facilities.
Investigates food service complaints regarding improper food service practices, suspected food-borne illness outbreaks or adulterated food.

Job Summary:
Assist in all functions of the Property Tax Section of the Department, provides information regarding tax matters to the public, issues and collects fees for dog licenses, and performs a variety of other activities related to processing and maintaining tax records.
Starting Wage: $26.41 per hour, full-time

Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Works in all functions of the Property Tax Section of the Department. Maintains and advises in the functions of each of our main programs: Delinquent Tax program, Tax program, Principal Residence program.
2. Prepares and finalizes settlement with Townships, Cities and Villages in the county. Collects money throughout the year from all units for County Operating Tax, State Education Tax, County Roads, County Seniors and Drains.
3. Performs a variety of duties related to the tax reversion process. Reviews all forfeited parcel and adds documentation gathered from contacts and visits to each file. Performs property visits; inspects and photographs the property to ascertain if the property is occupied and occupants are aware of the pending foreclosure proceedings.
4. Collects tax money for Delinquent Property, Current Property Taxes, Principle Resident Exemptions and any other counter receipts as needed. Accounts for all daily receipts. Files and records as needed.
5. Processes Principal Residence Exemption changes and value changes ordered by the Board of Review and Department of Treasury.
6. Maintains County Dog Program. Notarizes affidavits for lost dog tags.
7. Gives Certifications for Quit Claim Deeds, Warranty Deeds and Land Contracts by mapping out legal descriptions and by checking taxes and ownership before they are recorded. Notarizes documents being recorded at the Register of Deeds.
8. Manages and maintains status on all bankruptcy cases filed for property taxes in Allegan County. Contacts attorneys and bankruptcy trustees when needed.
9. Manages and maintains the Tax Millage Certification Listing for Allegan County.
10.Performs various other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in accounting, finance or related field required. Bachelors Degree preferred.
Five (5) years of governmental clerical support required.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Horticulture & Maintenance Supervisor - Potter Park Zoo

The position could possibly close at any time.* Under the general supervision of the Zoo Deputy Director, responsible for day to day technical, design, maintenance, and supervisory work in horticulture, forestry, and maintenance functions on zoo and park grounds.
* Assigns and supervises duties of all zoo maintenance staff, interns and volunteers, including onboarding, training, work assignments, scheduling, and effectively recommends personnel matters pertaining to staff, hiring, firing, and disciplinary action.
* Responsible for maintaining building and grounds repairs and normal upkeep.
* Plans, designs, and maintains landscape installations in the zoo and park, including but not limited to: determines types and quantity of horticultural plants to be grown; cultivates and propagates exotic and native plant species that are landscape or exhibit specific; selects and purchases seed, plant nutrients, and disease control chemicals; provides daily maintenance and identifies plant needs and provides appropriate solutions.
* Recommends improvements in landscaping public park property, including kinds and location of trees, shrubs, and other ornamental plants; provides leadership in forestry management on zoo and park grounds.
* Coordinates with zoo department heads and staff concerning maintenance related activities on a daily basis.
* Oversees labor and material needs for projects, researches options, develops plans, speaks with vendors, and makes recommendations, monitors cost and budget, including during emergency situations.
* Completes work orders and records concerning time, material and equipment.
* Coordinates the ongoing daily activities of the Maintenance Department with outside agencies such as contractors, sales representatives, and volunteer groups.
* Stays current and works to exceed all USDA and AZA standards.
* Participates in all manager on duty and zoo emergency procedures.
* Attends and develops reports for Board of Commissioners, Zoo Board, and departmental meetings and events as requested.
Other Functions:
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Must adhere to departmental standards in regard to HIPAA and other privacy issues.
* During a public health emergency, the employee may be required to perform duties similar to but not limited to those in his/her .
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the above tasks. (These examples do not include all of the tasks which the employee may be expected to perform.)
Education: Equivalent of two years of advanced course work in horticulture, landscape architecture or other closely related field of study. Prefer some course work in supervisory / management skills.
Experience: Three years of progressively responsible horticulture and/or forestry including supervisory experience. Knowledge of Zoo operations and horticulture experience preferred.
Other Requirements: Knowledge of legal requirements, regulations, laws and other authoritative standards applicable to horticulture. Arborist certification or equivalent is preferred. Possession of or ability to obtain state licensing as a Pesticide Applicator is required. Training or experience with Integrated Pest Management is preferred. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Michigan Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required. Must have a good driving record. Driving records will be checked as part of the referral process. You must be able to meet the standards of the Ingham County Driving Records Policy for referral. Must submit a cover letter and resume with application.
