What You Will Do

+ Compliance and Regulatory Readiness; specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to - Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training staff on these procedures regularly, conducting internal audits to identify gaps before external inspections, establishing a process for incident reporting, ensuring full traceability from donor to recipient.
+ Supervise personnel of Clinical Laboratory Assistants to manage performance, complete audits, and monitor completion of assignments
+ Travel to other hospital entities to conduct training as needed
+ Provide processing coverage on days when staffing is below minimum
+ Serve as a technical expert to educate staff, respond to nursing requests, and collaborate with other departments and teams regarding collections
+ Develop and engage laboratory assistants, providing support to result in a high retention rate, ensure successful integration of new team members
+ Assist the supervisor in projects as required

+ Associate's Degree Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological science is preferred upon hire and must be attained within 3 months of hire.
+ Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program is required.
+ Two (2) years of experience in a Medical Laboratory is preferred.

Qualifications
Education
* H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required
* Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
Experience
* 6 Months experience as a phlebotomist or
* Completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy preferred or
* Hospital experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications
* PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire Preferred
What You Will Do
* For those entities performing phlebotomy; employee follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient
* Follows laboratory procedures for handling, and processing in a manner which is appropriate and follows safety guidelines
* Follows laboratory procedures for handling unacceptable specimens
* Follows established laboratory test procedures
* Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by hospital entity
* Reports and evaluates test results
* Facilitates workflow process
* Helps other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care
* Processes specimens
* Demonstrates ability to perform specimen processing protocols
* Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees, and observers
* Maintains commitment to profession by attending continuing education sessions. (ex. Web seminars, ASCP seminars, Tarleton and Lab sponsored seminars by industry)
* Quality control guidelines are followed
* Quality control and equipment maintenance
* Incorporates safety/infection control measures into work practices
