Reviews (annually), and maintains medical policies, procedures and health care delivery to assure quality patient care by the clinical department
Assists with development of the annual budget for the clinic and other budgets that may be required. Provides inputs for capital projects, equipment investments and facility management
Works to meet benchmarks and achieve productivity sufficient to maintain qualifications for federal and state funding and GRANT requirements
Supervises all providers, including performing new hire orientations for clinical staff, conducting peer review process, corrective action counseling, terminations, and approving all requests for leaves of absence, training, special requests. Performs chart reviews for Physicians, PAs, NPs, and RNs and provides training as needed
Fosters an environment that promotes SCFHC's Quality Assurance and Improvement Program and is responsible for removing barriers to achieving quality in medical care and for reporting to internal and external committees and entities, as required. Completes periodic quality reviews at all sites while maintain productivity standards within 10% of the practice goal and/or as required
Completes all required patient documentation in a timely manner and continuously improves work flow procedures to provide high quality health care
Works collaboratively with other departments, medical community, other health care agencies, professional organizations, government bodies and funders, and represent SCFHC at meetings as necessary or requested for the successful integration of services as appropriate.
Assures adequate staffing, including provider scheduling and room assignments. Works with the HR department in recruiting, screening and hiring of new providers as directed by the Chief Medical Officer
In Chief Medical Officer absence, or when directed by the CEO or Designee: Assumes responsibilities and authorities of Chief Medical Officer, on an interim basis as required to ensure regulatory compliance and the ongoing clinic operations of SCFHC

General Summary: The Medical Assistant will provide direct and indirect support to the provider in the delivery of patient care. Including, but not limited, to taking patient's vitals, placing patients in exam rooms, assisting providers with procedures, following-up on provider's orders (labs, referrals, etc.), and ensuring that providers have all needed supplies. Medical Assistants should demonstrate knowledge of NextGen Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The ideal candidate will have to perform some of the following essential duties.
Records patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records
Ensure labs, imaging, and specialist reports are available in the EHR (NextGen, Epic, etc.)
Flag gaps in care (immunizations, screenings, chronic disease measures per UDS/HRSA)
Verify demographics, insurance, and preferred pharmacy.
Review Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) questionnaires
Administers injections and diagnostic test/referrals as ordered, including immunizations, completing lab requisitions and other services ordered by the provider
Conduct evidence-based screenings (PHQ-9, GAD-7, fall risk, smoking, alcohol, food insecurity, etc.)
Documents all immunizations according to standards
Performs diagnostic and laboratory tests including but not limited to audiometry, Snellen, EKG, urine dip, hemocue hemoglobin, etc., according to SFCHC competency standards
Queue orders/labs per protocol (provider signs)
Collecting specimens from patients for lab tests or biopsies as necessary
Assures efficient patient flow with ongoing assessment of provider schedule, and working with other staff to minimize patient waiting time
Assist during visit (POC tests, chaperone, documentation support)
All medical forms are completed accurately by day's end and entered into day folder
Demonstrates the skills, initiative, exertion, drive, demonstrated self-improvement, and productivity
Prepare patient charts prior to visits and accompany the provider during the visit, transcribing visit notes and assisting with documentation related to vitals, medical history and care plans
Transcribe handwritten progress notes into electronic health record system
Transcribe patient orders, including but not limited to laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
Travel between clinic sites to cover staffing shortages.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Medical Assistant Certificate required
Current BLS Certification required High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
Must have minimum of 4 to 6 years or more clinical front and back office experience.
Must be able to work independently within scope of assigned task with minimum supervision
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written, oral and customer service skills with patients, visitors, and staff
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills
Strong charting/documentation skills.
Must be detailed orientated.
Bilingual and Bi-literate Spanish/English preferred

Carries out a review of patients' medical history and examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition checks their health status and prescribes needed medicines to patients
Obtains, compiles and records patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination and records patients' progress
Suggests therapy or medication with physician approval
Orders diagnostic tests, including blood tests and x-rays
Establishes diagnoses for a patient's illness or injuries
Assists in treatment, including immunizing patients and mending broken bones
Suggests tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients
Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance
Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and infection management
Adhere to safety factors when administering medications and therapeutic agents.

Qualifications Licensure and Certifications:

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a community clinic setting is prefer.
Previous experience in a Community Health Centers is preferred
