Provisional certification is accepted, valid for up to 30 days or once 400 hours of hands-on experience are fulfilled. Certification from a NJDOH-recognized body such as CSPDT/HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) is required. Completion and passing grade in an SPD training course or school are acceptable in lieu of one to two years of job experience. Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication, are necessary for the role.

Utilizes two patient identifiers when caring for patients.
