Comfortable with emergency situations such as Massive Transfusion Protocols' and Emergency Release', issuing uncrossmatched blood according to laboratory approved procedures.
Inspects/issues compatible blood and blood products for transfusion, and performs visual and temperature check on returned blood; disposes of improperly stored/labeled, punctured, outdated, contaminated or hemolyzed blood according to approved procedures.
Monitors blood and blood product inventory to ensure adequate supply for patient transfusion, orders blood and blood products when indicated; monitors inventory of reagents and other Blood Bank supplies and notifies Blood Bank Supervisor or Leads when supply is low.
Participates in the training and instruction of new MLS' hired in the Blood Bank
Performs routine and standardized tests as outline in the Blood Bank Standard Operating Procedures (ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen, Antibody Identification, Direct Antiglobulin tests, compatibility tests, phenotyping, elution, etc.); completes proper documentation.
Performs special methods as outlined in the Standard Operation Procedure and/or Technical Manual in resolving difficulties or multiple antibodies, ABO discrepancies, Antibodies of Undetermined Specificity, incompatible crossmatch; completes documentation.
Performs transfusion reaction investigation and workups, testing and documenting according to Standard Operating Procedure.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Documented training as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b)
Non-degree semester hours in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science will be evaluated as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) required

Education and Training:

Bachelor's degree in medical technology, or in a physical, chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science and 5+ years in high complexity testing in CLIA/CAP environment
ASCP, AMT or defined equivalent required or eligible; must pass exam within one year or when eligible per ASCP standards.
Experience/Skills Requirement:
Minimum of five (5) years clinical laboratory experience
Two (2) years of laboratory supervisory experience preferred
Proven experience working in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting, with a solid understanding of laboratory operations and regulatory compliance
In-depth knowledge of Clinical Laboratory principles, methodologies, and devices

Responsible for preparing patients and assisting physicians with cardiac catheterization procedures such as coronary angiograms, angioplasty, and stents. Integrates with physicians and nurses, and has responsibility for emergency call.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Prepares procedure room for cardiac catheterization and interventions including, stent placements, balloon angioplasties, heart valve replacements, and electrophysiology tests and ensures all equipment's required for the procedure are present in the procedure room.
2. Prepares and drapes patients for the process, responds to their questions alleviating any concerns regarding the procedure, and ensures patients comfort.
3. Enters patient, procedure and equipment details in the system.
4. Monitors patient hemodynamic status during procedure, including electrocardiogram, blood pressure, chest pain.
5. Retrieves imaging and other pertinent data and all necessary calculations for physician's interpretation of results.
6. Balances, calibrates and records appropriate hemodynamic data as well as intervenes in cardiopulmonary emergencies.
7. Operates equipment properly in a reliable manner, per departmental standards, complying with all safety guidelines/policies.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Graduate of an Accredited CVT School with RCIS certification (or obtaining within 1-year of hire) OR licensed Radiology Technologist.
Radiology Technologists will be provided a six month training and support.
To provide a safe environment for our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 1-2 years previous Cath Lab experience preferred.
License/Certification:
RCIS/RCVT experience required OR licensed Radiology Technologist.
