This position assists and supports the Imaging department Technologists and by assisting in the Clinical Information System workflow for patients and getting then ready for their exams, transporting patients as needed, preparing CD's of imaging exams using the PACS, and providing a multitude of other clerical/office tasks. Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions) Cleans, maintains, and stocks the outpatient waiting rooms, dressing rooms, radiologist reading rooms, inpatient holding room, and designated procedure rooms. Works at the front desk in Imaging Services and greets all visitors, physicians and staff by using appropriate standards of behavior. Checks in patients and prepares them for their exams while appropriately identifying the patient per departmental policies and procedures. Identifies proper physician order for the procedures and understands how to correct orders within the patient information system. Answers the telephone using established policies and procedures. Digitize hard copy film into the PACS ensuring optimal quality of images. Scans all hard copy documents related to a diagnostic procedure into the clinical system as needed. Obtains STAT/Preliminary reports from radiologists and follows the policy for reporting critical test results. Queries, retrieves and prints CD/film images requested for release to physicians or patients, and requests prior studies relevant to the patients exams as needed. Monitors patients in the inpatient holding room and coordinates patient transport with Central Transport and the individual departments, while transporting patients as needed. Keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery. * Keep accurate and timely charts of all patient progress and treatments. Inform inventory manager as needed about items that need to be ordered. Also understand usage and recommendations for prescription drugs. The referral technician uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instructions, but refers deviations, problems, and unfamiliar situations not covered by instructions to the practitioner for decision or help. The practitioners assure that finished work and methods used are technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures. Review of the work increases with more difficult assignments, if the technician has not previously performed similar assignments. Under general direction of the Department Manager and/or Lead Technologist, and in collaboration with the Medical Director of the Cath Lab, cardiologists, radiologists, and other medical staff, the Cardiovascular/ Interventional Imaging Technologist is responsible for the performance of advance cardiovascular and interventional imaging procedures. Serves as a customer service representative to patients, their families, the public, and the medical staff. Participates in quality assurance and organizational improvement activities. Provides age-appropriate care (e.g., assists with data collection and providing care) for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
