The Dementia Unit offers 24-hour care for people with Alzheimer's disease and related memory disorder. Care is provided utilizing both a medical and social model of care with therapeutic programs tailored to each resident's needs, abilities, and preferences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, oral care, hair care, shaving, nail care, grooming, toileting, and eating.
* Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and positioning using appropriate techniques and stretches, as well as using proper mechanical lifts, body mechanics and a variety of equipment designed to support the patient and ergonomically help the CNA.
* Executes basic physical therapy tasks, including facilitating both active and passive range of motion exercises, and applying immobilizers, splints, and slings as needed.
* Support residents during mealtimes by serving or feeding residents and ensuring they receive proper nutrition and hydration.
* Help maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents, including changing linens, personal laundry and tidying personal space while follow protocols of infection control.
* Respond promptly to resident calls, pagers, call lights to for assistance, addressing their needs with patience and kindness.
