    The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Psych Services department is an essential member of the patient care team, responsible for direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process in all assigned areas. In this role, the RN will be responsible for developing and periodically updating individualized, interdisciplinary plans of care, evaluating patient outcomes, and identifying available resources for patients. St. Mary's Regional Medical Center is one of New England's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare facilities and offers a place where lives are turned around and put on a path to hope, happiness, and good mental health. The Crisis Psychiatric Unit provides care to patients aged 5 and up with psychiatric illnesses. Some patients may also have a need for medical care. The most frequent psychiatric diagnoses are major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, and psychotic disorders. Patients who are in need of, or requesting detoxification, also make up some clientele. JOB REQUIREMENTS * 2-Year Associates degree required * Valid State of Maine RN license * BLS Certification required * CPI training is preferred but will be offered upon hire * 1-3 years previous nursing experience preferred * At least 1-year of previous experience in mental health nursing preferred * Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required * Excellent team player * Ability to manage stress appropriately and make decisions under pressure * Flexibility is required to provide coverage 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. The On-Call/Triage Nurse is the first line contact for all agency communications and patient care needs outside of normal operating hours to ensure access to and delivery of 24/7 nursing services per agency policy. The On-Call/Triage Nurse handles inbound after-hours phone calls from Hospice patients and families, assesses the needs of the patient and family, provides education about interventions, and coordinates or performs required care and follow-up in person, electronically, and by telephone in homes, facilities, and hospitals. The On-Call/Triage Nurse conducts symptom management and emergent nursing care; continuous home hospice care visits; referral management, admissions, and transfers to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House; and Time of Death, post-mortem, and RN bereavement visits. The Triage Nurse also supports RN Case Managers by following up on physician orders, prescription refills, and test results; providing targeted teaching to home patient caregivers; coordinating care with the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team; and making proactive outreach calls to patients with rapidly changing conditions. All services provided to the patient and families are pursuant to a physician's orders and consistent with the patient's plan of care. The on-call/triage hours are 4pm-8:30am and the incumbents are paid their hourly rate of pay for the entire on-call shift, regardless of the number of calls received or if they go out and make visits. On-call shift days vary based on the needs. Must have flexibility to cover various days of the week. The ideal candidate would also have availability to cover day shift per diem visit RN hours if there are no on-call/triage shifts needed.     Registered Nurse - Night Shift Available (FT/PT) $5000 Sign-On Bonus Available! $From 37 Per Hour Plus Differential - Occasional overtime available Hours: Full-time 36 Hours (Three -12-hour shifts); Regular Part-time (Schedule may change based on center needs) Basic Purpose: Under direction and guidance of the program director, the RN provides important support to clients, including medication administration, intakes, recording vitals, charting in medical databases, and other medical care while they are at our medically supervised withdrawal management program. The RN plays a key role during the intake process and strictly follows established protocols. This position is considered essential personnel to Wellspring's staffing plan. RNs are expected to be prepared with reliable transportation and caregiver coverage to report to regularly scheduled shifts including during inclement weather. All positions may include evening, night, weekend and holiday coverage. Qualifications: · Must hold an unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine. · One (1) year of detox, emergency or med-surge nursing experience preferred. · Working knowledge of the signs and symptoms of substance intoxication and withdrawal including pharmacological factors. · Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter who works with integrity while also being a strong team player. · Knowledge of the Code of Ethics for nurses. · Knowledge of the federal drug and alcohol confidentiality law (42 C.F.R. Part 2) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. · Knowledge of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) placement criteria and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual as it relates to substance-related disorders or able to acquire the knowledge. · Current CPR/AED, & Narcan trained. · Proficiency with computers and MS Office · Maturity and professionalism, with a sincere desire to work with clients in withdrawal and early recovery. · Must successfully pass background checks. General Description: Wellspring provides a continuum of integrated trauma - informed treatment services for adults who are suffering from substance use disorders with co-occurring mental health issues. Our New Horizons program provides 5-7 day medically supervised withdrawal management services for alcohol, opiates, methamphetamines, and other substances. All Wellspring programs are located within the greater Bangor area. Primary Responsibilities: Complete a physical assessment of all clients upon admission or as needed to assess skin integrity, markings, or signs and symptoms of disease or issues. Complete intake screening process for new clients, assess the need for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and coordinate with medical providers to initiate MAT, if appropriate. Monitor and document the physical and mental health needs of clients, including vital signs and behavioral observations. Screen for danger to self or others. Maintain professional boundaries with clients and interact with them in an appropriate manner. Create, update, and maintain accurate medication administration records, ensuring the safe and responsible administration of medications to clients. Collaborate effectively with medical providers, other nursing staff, and counseling team to contribute to the development of individual treatment and discharge plans. Complete incident report for any unusual or adverse event including medication errors and medication reactions. Provide client education that focuses on the treatment of substance use disorders, offering guidance and support to promote recovery. Provide direction to the technicians on assigned shift. Monitor to ensure that medical supplies are in stock, organized, and up to date to facilitate smooth client care delivery. Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity in working with clients from diverse backgrounds, respecting each client's needs and preferences. Stay current with developments in the field of substance use disorder treatment and participate in ongoing training and education to enhance knowledge and skills. All other duties as assigned. This 42-bed unit provides short-term, skilled nursing and rehab services to patients recovering from fractures, joint replacements, back surgery, stroke, and other illnesses or injuries of a short-term nature where a rehab approach might be beneficial.
