RN Manager - St. Peter's Health Partners - ALS Center, 19 Warehouse Row, Albany, NY Status: Full-Time The St. Peter's ALS Center has a rewarding , unique and challenging opportunity for a RN Manager to lead the Center, caring for an average of 90 patients with ALS and their families across a 90-mile radius.
The St. Peter's ALS Center provides a wide range of services and supports, including individual assessment and treatment programming, consultation, nursing case management , visits with our team at our Albany-based clinic, home visits by team members, individual and family counseling, medical and communication equipment available on loan, volunteer support, patient and caregiver support groups, and more! Many of our services are not reimbursed by insurance, making fundraising a key component of the role, working in close collaboration with our Center for Philanthropy. Our Center's hours are Monday to Friday 8:45 am to 5:00 pm; our Center is closed on weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
* As the manager, you will bring your passion and energy to juggle a diverse range of job responsibilities-staffing, quality programming, financial management and budgeting, establishment and sustainment of community relationships, fundraising, public speaking , and rolling up your sleeves to help with patient care as needed
* Assists our ALS Center nursing team with intake, admissions, community education and case management as well as Magnet certification.
* Many of our services are not reimbursed by insurance, making fundraising a key component of the role, working in close collaboration with our Center for Philanthropy.
Requirements:
* New York State RN License.
* Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN)
* RN Management/Supervisory experience
* Must have experience with program development , fundraising, and budget development.

* Passion for caring for people living with ALS and the ability to multitask and juggle a diverse range of responsibilities

Keeps abreast of latest trends in geriatrics and attends in-services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current registration in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Three years of nursing experience, with at least one year of experience in long term care nursing preferred.

Position Summary: Supervisor is responsible for collaborating with the manager for the planning, priority setting, coordination and evaluation of programs for patient care in designated patient populations. This includes the daily monitoring of administrative and clinical systems which support patient care. The Supervisor facilitates collegial relationships between care teams, supplements staff, and collaborates with leadership staff in assuring adequate staffing is achieved throughout the division. Minimum Qualifications
* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
* Valid RN licensure authorized in the applicable state(s) of practice / employment.
* Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited school of nursing.
* Valid driver's license where required by assignment.
Additional Qualifications (nice to have)

MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

What you will do:
* Responsible and accountable to utilizing the nursing process to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential problems of individuals or groups.

What you will do:
The Registered Professional Nurse has the responsibility and accountability to utilize the nursing process to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential problems of individuals or groups. * Brings patient to exam room, takes appropriate vital signs and documents in electronic medical record.
* Review and update medication list to ensure accurate and complete list in electronic medical record (EMR) available for provider review and submission.
* Complete referrals and tracks patients' compliance.
* Review prescriptions electronically and send prescriptions to providers for review and submission.
* Obtains patient consent for procedures as directed by provider.
* Performs pre-visit planning and reviews quality metrics.
* Retrieves telephonic clinical information from patients who call into the office.
* Monitors task list and completes tasks assigned by provider in a timely manner based on urgency.
* Educates patients regarding medication, testing procedures and home care techniques.
* Ensure proper labeling, handling and documentation for patient specimens.
* Follow up with patient regarding test results based on advice given by provider.
* Maintains a clean and safe work environment including disinfecting patient care areas and equipment.
* In conjunction with other nursing colleagues, maintains the medical supply cabinet and drug cabinet.
* Uses the electronic medical record to communicate effectively.
