Saint Peter's Healthcare System offers an 80-hour training program for individuals interested in becoming a PCT but do not have the required certifications or experience. Saint Peter's will pay you to complete the training program. This program is provided every other month at our main hospital in New Brunswick.
About the PCT Training Program
Saint Peter's paid 80-hour Patient Care Technician Program consists of both in-classroom and hands-on training. The PCT-Training Program will:
* Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), patient transfers, and discharges, monitor basic physiological parameters as delegated by the RN.
* Provide age specific care as directed by RN.
* Participate in the planning and evaluation of patient care by communicating all information pertinent to patient's status.
* Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Plan of Care as appropriate to the ages of the patients served including growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics) and an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.
* Provide for patient hygiene, comfort and safety.
* Report all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences of an urgent nature as they develop.
Requirements:
* Career interest in healthcare is preferred.
* Ability to complete the in-person training program during weekday business hours of 7:30am - 4:30pm.
* Customer service experience is preferred.
* Flexible schedule preferred.
Salary Range: 19.00 - 25.50 USD

As an integral part of the patient care team, the Patient Care Technician performs direct and indirect patient care functions under the supervision of appropriately licensed personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certification in Phlebotomy ASCP preferred. BLSHCP certified within six months of hire or transfer. Must be a graduate of a post-secondary Medical Assistance program accredited by a national acceding agency, with a minimum of 330 hours of instruction, with special training around medication administration as per the NJ Board of Medical Examiners required. All Certified Medical Assistants must maintain active National Certification with a certifying agency approved by NJ (i.e. American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) National Center of Competency Testing (NCCT), National Health Career Association (NHA) or American Medical Technologist (AMT), Board of Medical Examiners (BME), required. As part of the Virtualist Program, BLS certification is excluded.
EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of prior experience in Ambulatory care preferred. Able to handle high volume of interactions with frequent interruptions required.
