JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Required to work a minimum of 2 weekend shifts during an 8-week period and 1 holiday per year.
Job Summary:
Performs many pharmacy-related functions under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and may perform administrative functions of the Retail Pharmacy. Assists the Retail Pharmacy Pharmacist in the clerical, recordkeeping, order entry, and medication dispensing functions.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. State of Louisiana Pharmacy Technician License or State of Louisiana Pharmacy Intern License or State of Louisiana Pharmacy Technician Candidate License with successful completion of the PTCB examination. Obtain at least 10 ACPE approved education hours per year.
Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort required:
Constant (67%-100%) - reaching, talking, hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, handling/feeling

Pharmacy technicians assist and support licensed pharmacists in providing health care and medications to patients. Pharmacy technicians must have a broad knowledge of pharmacy practice, and be skilled in the techniques required to order, stock, package, and compound and otherwise prepare medications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Procures and distributes medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
Fills physician orders, medication surgical kits, medication carts, stock requisitions and automated dispensing system refill lists accurately
Replenishes medications in emergency drug containers and floor stock areas accurately
Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations safely and accurately using appropriate techniques including aseptic manipulations, garbing procedures, and aseptic work practices
Delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas accurately per established schedule
Assist with the purchase of drugs and supplies in accordance with GPO bids and Glenwood best demonstrated practices
Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations
Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date
Completes and documents all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly; identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs
Restocks medication and IV dispensing areas accurately within specified time periods
Repackages bulk medications in unit-dose packages safely and accurately per established procedures using appropriate techniques
Picks up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds
Assist in the process for patient and department charges, and that they are accurately and timely posted to accounts
Generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required
Answers the telephone, identifying self and department; directs calls to appropriate personnel
May answers requests at the window (if applicable to hospital location) and makes stat deliveries to patient care and ancillary areas when requested
Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately, files documentation in appropriate locations
Demonstrates competence in automated dispensing equipment and adheres to established processes and procedures
Loads medications from restock lists into automated distribution system correctly
Empties and reconciles contents of automated distribution equipment return bins
Ensures that look-alike, sound-alike medications are segregated in automated distribution equipment
Maintains outdated medication tracking function, ensuring appropriate expiration dates are entered, stock is rotated, and expired items removed from automated distribution equipment
Maintains appropriate par levels for inventories in automated distribution equipment
Accurately loads new inventory items and removes items deleted from inventory in automated distribution equipment
Monitors automated distribution equipment stock-outs and resolves stock-outs in a timely manner
Inspects medications in automated distribution equipment monthly, ensuring removal of expired and unusable medications and reconciliation of inventories
Maintains security and confidentiality of passwords
Attends and participates in departmental meetings, in-services, and quality improvement programs

Description:
This is an overnight Medication History Pharmacy Technician position located at Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN.
Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in one or more of the following areas: inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories. Assists with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into system, preparing the medication for pharmacist check, preparing medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery. Key job duties may consist of handling supplies, stocking prepackaged items, maintaining inventory, delivering supplies, maintaining records, distributing supplies. May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions. Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.
High School Diploma/GED is required.
Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.

Job Summary:
The Specialty Pharmacy & Infusion Technician is primarily the first contact for both referral sources and patients with our pharmacy. As such, the technician should strive to build relationships with these customers to increase satisfaction, compliance, and referrals. A Vital Care Specialty Pharmacy & Infusion Technician's main responsibility is to assist the pharmacists with filling, mixing and assisting customers. Duties/Responsibilities:
Primarily responsible for assisting Vital Care Rx processes through to completion.
Answer phone & assist customers.
Intake/Process referrals through to completion.
Work fax cue.
Send fax confirmation.
Identify & complete necessary PA's.
Contact patient(s) to make arrangements of financial responsibility & set up delivery.
Assist with enrollment of PAP if necessary.
Follow-up with insurance status if needed.
Notify referral source of status & start of care.
Ensure proper reimbursement by third party.
Obtain copay collection prior to shipment.
