General Summary of Position: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for using tools, systems, and processes to provide accurate reports within timeframes provided. Specifically, the Staff Accountant can expect to assist with preparing financial statements and tax returns. In addition, is expected to use good communication skills and work effectively as a member of a team in delivering a quality end product to clients. This position is fulltime or part-time with expectation of working more hours during our peak time of January through the April tax deadline. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Prepare accurate financial statements, including bank reconciliations and adjusting journal entries, and tax returns (individual, business, and payroll) with special attention to the accuracy of all information and identify areas of concern to superiors.
Work independently with clients to assist with QuickBooks troubleshooting, entries, and training
Maintain and develop relationships with clients including recognizing additional client service opportunities.
Support and participate in firm initiatives, build positive client relationships, gain knowledge and skills in area of client industries served.
Keep up to date with current issues and legislative changes.
Monitor the workflow and due dates for assigned client projects.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Education and Experience:
Associates or Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance is preferred
0-3 years in public accounting or related field
Working toward CPA certification.

Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office

Collaborates with the Director of Financial Reporting and other team members in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and other information included in quarterly and annual SEC filings, ensuring compliance with all reporting and disclosure requirements under U.S. GAAP and the SEC, as applicable
Assists in preparing the Company's quarterly earnings press release, earnings call script, and investor presentations, partnering with Investor Relations, Financial Planning and Analysis, Treasury, and Business Accounting teams
Regularly communicates status of assigned responsibilities to Director of Financial Reporting and broader financial reporting team to ensure compliance with prescribed deadlines
Supports preparation and review of annual employee benefit plan financial statements filed with the Department of Labor (DOL) as well as aid in addressing benefit plan audit requests
Aids in the preparation of the Company's regulated utilities annual financial statements submitted externally to regulators ensuring compliance with all reporting and disclosure requirements under U.S. GAAP and other regulations, as applicable
Supports various diligence and compliance related requests as needed, including but not limited to addressing technical accounting related questions and documenting conclusions to those proposed accounting issues.
Prepares various corporate and intercompany elimination journal entries to support the month-end close process
Prepares the monthly files for various balance sheet reconciliations for month end close
Maintains and updates accounting internal control policies and procedures and provide supporting documentation to internal audit regarding compliance with control procedures specific to the financial reporting function
Serves as a primary point of contact with both external and internal auditors to provide requested documentation and support regarding financial statements and accounting treatment for specific transactions
Additional Responsibilities:
Assists in the ongoing training and development of junior staff
Aids in helping to identify opportunities that drive efficiency during reporting cycles

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
Work Experience: Five years of progressive experience in public practice or industry preferred
Regular driver's license
Licensure/Certification: CPA preferred
Knowledge: Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Power Point), familiarity with Workiva, Blackline, Power Plan preferred

The Job
Provide monthly financial analysis and reporting such as AR Aging reports,
Unbilled/Deferred Aging, Billing/Revenue/Deferred Balance analysis and adjustments, Credit Memo trends, Rework Metrics, pending proposals lists and other areas upon request.
Lead certain monthly financial close activities for QPS, LLC including journal entries and account reconciliations but not limited to cash reconciliation, fixed asset management, bad debt and allowance calculation, intercompany transaction processing, accounting for client payments and collaborating with AR/AP to facilitate a timely close.
Assist in budget planning, cash flow, expense trend analysis and P/L forecasting.
Assist with other initiatives as needed on an ad hoc basis.
