Enters results into computer for reporting. 5% Assists pathologists and other physicians in fine needle aspirations performed in a wide variety of physical and clinical settings; uses independent judgement concerning optimal preparation of these medically significant specimens. 5% Provides information to physicians and nursing personnel regarding interpretation of patient results. Performs correlation studies of discordant cytological and histologic results and maintains documentation of the reviews. 5% The Cytotechnologist is directly affected by rapidly advancing technology, new and changing concepts/terminology and increasing governmental regulation. Thus, the technologist must remain current in the field by attending meetings and seminars for the purpose of continuing education. 5% The technologist serves in a teaching function by instructing new personnel and by providing information to other hospital personnel.
