SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE: The Intern role is an introduction into the world of forensic and consulting engineering. The Intern will experience all facets of forensic engineering consulting including, but not limited to, technical research, report writing, site inspections and test projects. The role will receive coaching and mentorship provided by the Team Leads as well as access to all engineering and core functions of the company.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Apply technical discipline to conduct in-depth technical research concerning pricing, specifications and equipment repair options and replacements.
Contribute to the investigation of an incident including but not limited to collection of evidence, documentation of site and associate equipment and photograph all equipment and areas related to the claim.
Work with the Team Lead to write reports based on investigative findings.
Travel to required location(s) for either site inspection, trial witness requirements, or client meetings.
Setup and run test projects. Collect the requisite data and distill the data into usable information.
Assist consultants with marketing efforts and matter related work on an as needed basis.

Site inspections will require the ability to stand and walk for in excess of 6 hours. The inspections will also involve traversing sites where an incident, failure, or disaster has occurred. The terrain may be uneven and contain debris from the incident. There will also be an inventory of equipment which will involve bending, kneeling, or stooping to obtain the equipment information. The appropriate PPE will be for these inspections. At times, artifacts from the site inspection will be secured which will involve the lifting, protecting and manipulating items up to 60 lbs.

Reliability Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineers troubleshoot Electrical & Instrumentation issues at the refinery. As a reliability intern, you will help analyze failures of equipment, develop solutions for recurring equipment difficulties, submit Project Request Forms (PRF's) to implement solutions, and understand equipment maintenance strategies. There will be opportunities to use electrical analysis software to solve coordination issues and run Arc Flash studies for the power system, as well as learning and understanding about how our critical Refinery Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) are applied.
Process Control / Technical Service Engineers can work on a wide array of projects in support of the process control systems installed throughout the refinery and products movements areas. The process control systems in the refinery provide real-time control and data acquisition functions in support of operating the refinery process and electrical equipment. Typical college co-op assignments include the following: troubleshooting system power supply problems, control system programming, hardware and software lifecycle replacement projects, installing and troubleshooting communication networks and monitoring control system performance metrics.

POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain electrical systems Scope of work includes research and development, initial concept through requirements definition, topology selection, detailed design, analysis, optimization, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and delivery to the customer. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required. An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
Hands-on experience using RF test equipment (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers).
Programming capability in C, VBA, Python, or Matlab preferred.
Experience in ensuring design meets set requirements for performance, schedule, and cost.
Have good interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills to maintain effective working relationships as part of a technical team in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Office, and MS PowerPoint.

Essential Job Function

Minimum Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with circuit design software (e.g., Altium, LTSpice) and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB).
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
A genuine interest in electrical systems and a commitment to supporting national defense initiatives.

As a Hardware Engineering Intern/Co-op for Rockwell Automation, you will have the opportunity to join a dynamic team developing the next generation of new automation control systems. In this position, you will be part of a team initially challenged with the critical role of validating the functionality and performance of the new hardware and ensuring our products meet all functional, regulatory and safety requirements. Your Responsibilities:
Work on an agile team to design electrical circuits, develop test requirements and execute hardware verification test plans with traceability to product requirements, including board level functional testing, EMC/EMI, Safety Agencies (UL, ATEX, IECEX), Functional Safety (IEC 61508), and Environmental
Perform programming, analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototype
Contribute to associated product design documentation and test reports
Take ownership of assignments by understanding expected output, requesting help as needed, and helping teammates as needed
Build relationships with technical leads and peers to grow your knowledge of the product development lifecycle
The Essentials - You Will Have:
Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
Must be enrolled for at least one semester after the co-op concludes.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or similar technical degree.
Previous co-op/intern experience in Hardware Development
Experience using design capture tools, able to read & understand schematics, and have basic knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog and/or DC-power conversion, programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs)
Hands-on experience with hardware test equipment, including debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
Experience developing and/or using programs (assembly, C/C++, Python, ladder) for product initialization, debug, or test
Experience working as part of a team using Agile/Scrum methodologies in a Scaled Agile Framework
Knowledge of industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers
Experience performing product certification testing, such as testing to meet CE and IEC 61010
