ATI is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer (Performance Engineer) for our Millersburg, OR facility in the Fabrication Department. This is an onsite position. This is a key role in analyzing and monitoring our overall equipment effectiveness and driving issues to resolution. Primary Responsibilities Own and eliminate production losses, whether in utilization, yield, or uptime, to ensure effective solutions are implemented. Evaluates and categorizes production losses for proper classification for targeted improvement efforts. Record, analyze, and interpret production deviation data to determine trends and opportunities for performance improvement. Determines and prioritizes corrective actions to close operational performance gaps. Review daily operating logs to identify equipment reliability issues and collaborate with teams to address challenges. Partner with reliability engineers to identify and address equipment losses to ensure long-term reliability improvements. Works with the Capability Leader to determine solutions for mitigating losses due to operating discipline. Monitors and analyzes the effectiveness of the reliability program to ensure performance targets are met and areas for improvement are addressed. Lead criticality analysis for equipment within the area, focusing on high-priority equipment. Identifies needs and resources for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and the appropriate level of investigation for issues that arise. Provides input to turnaround scope for availability and equipment reliability opportunities that cannot be addressed during regular operations. Evaluate improvement proposals to uncover their true value and alignment with business goals. Provides subject matter expertise in support of key performance improvement initiatives. This position is part of the Manufacturing Engineering Department and is the technical lead responsible for opto-mechanical assembly, alignment and test of Coherent Bio-Instrumentation Laser Engine products. The high-level goals for this position are to support manufacturing initiatives and improvements of manufacturing processes, looking for opportunities to reduce costs, improve yields and increase throughput whilst maintaining high quality levels. The role also includes interfacing with some of Coherent's overseas manufacturing facilities. Multi-disciplinary problem solving as well as data analysis are primary aspects of this position. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Provides technical ownership and manufacturing support for one or more Laser Engine product lines. Support manufacturing initiatives and improvements of Laser Engine manufacturing processes Drive yield and cost improvements and support capacity increases Work on customer RMA events, providing robust containment and resolution and using an 8D report format Determine root cause and corrective actions to resolve manufacturing issues involving noncompliant product or material. Submit formal changes required for improvements or issue resolution, coordinating with other teams as needed Create and maintain detailed work instructions to support equipment operation and processes. Provide training to production staff on new or updated processes Assist forecasting capital equipment requirements in advance of need. Discuss technical issues with production techs & assemblers to help resolve issues or implement improvement actions Working with purchasing team and vendors on material issues or improvements and conducting first article inspection assessments. Education & Experience Minimum 5yr. experience in high-tech manufacturing environment BS/MS Optics, Optoelectronics, Physics or equivalent degree. Skills Hands-on experience with optical alignment, opto-mechanical assembly and test, including the use of optical and electrical photonics test equipment. Practical working knowledge of a variety of lasers, particularly solid state lasers, including safety, setup, operation and troubleshooting Strong background in procedure development, documentation and training tasks Proven record of process and fixture development for builds with exacting laser beam shaping and control requirements Strong practical experience manufacturing engineering support in high tech, low volume environment Broad understanding of optical, mechanical, and electronic engineering concepts. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, interpret tolerances, define lean work flows and create value stream maps. Knowledge and understanding of design for manufacturability across a variety of manufacturing processes. Readily able to collate and analyze data and communicate technical and manufacturing information across a range of audiences Ability to set up and use statistical process control methods Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 6σ, structured problem solving, Toyota PS, and Continuous Improvement methodologies. The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager with the setup, management, and closeout of projects at the Regional office or Jobsite to accomplish project objectives by planning, scheduling, and executing project activities throughout each phase to completion. Understand and comply with all WPI policies, procedures, and corporate safety program. Actively participate in the safety plans and measures of the assigned projects. Review contract language, scope of work, and special provisions in the contract. Make sure project team members are aware of these items. Assist with the buyout and procurement of material, subcontractor, and engineering quotes. Prepare RFI's, submittals, and shop drawings. Support and visit assigned job sites and participate in job meetings as required. Price change requests and update the budget promptly. Prepare, review, and report weekly productions. Review the weekly job cost report with the project Foreman and team. Prepare billings and approve invoices for payment. Track progress and spending, ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget. Support the implementation of job schedules. Coordinate warranties, O&M's, and closeout on projects. Requirements Basic Requirements High School Diploma Minimum Requirements Ability to diagnose and process key information, recognize critical areas on the job that could impact profitability, and then actively navigate the project away from risks and liabilities for a successful outcome. Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook). Strong oral and written communication skills is required. Ability to work in team environment is required. Strong customer service skills are required. Ability to multitask, think critically, and problem-solve is required. Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught is required. Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments. Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English and communicate with coworkers. Preferred Requirements Experience with commercial grade doors, frames, and hardware. Local to office is preferred. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
