Responsibilities:
Coordinate the technical aspects of civil engineering projects from design through construction.
Assists with defining project scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
Prepare and maintain project timelines and deliverables.
Review and QA/QC technical work by junior engineers and drafters.
Ensure project work meets engineering standards and client expectations.
Troubleshoot technical issues during project development and construction.
Serve as a technical liaison between design team and project management.
Prepare and contribute to technical reports, proposals and submittals.
Track project documentation, including change orders and progress logs.
Identify and mitigate project risks.
Mentor and support junior staff development.
Thrive in a semi-autonomous environment with minimal supervision.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer in Oregon, licensure in other states a plus.
8 -15 years of progressive civil engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership on multidisciplinary projects.
Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with MicroStation, GIS, or BIM is desirable.
Deep understanding of civil design standards, stormwater management, grading utilities, and transportation infrastructure.
Familiarity with sustainable design practices and regulatory permitting processes.
Exposure to project budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical reports and client presentations.
Proven project management skills with ability to lead project teams and coordinate with subconsultants.
Established relationships with local and state agencies preferred.

Position Summary
This position, Research Engineer or "RE" is responsible for providing leadership, management and technical support for shared facilities and equipment for analysis and fabrication of biological samples. The RE will oversee the operations of staffed and unstaffed shared facilities and equipment, provide consultation on the design and implementation of studies using the shared equipment, generate relevant operating procedures, and oversee health and safety in facilities and regarding the use of equipment. A core responsibility of this position is to oversee development and the operations of the Bioanalysis and Biofabrication core facility which combines biomolecular and cellular analysis along with bioprinting and microfluidic methods in support of bioengineering research. The RE will work closely with Knight Campus leadership, faculty advisory group and users to ensure that the facilities meet the needs of internal and external users, develop long-term business plans for sustaining the shared facilities, and build and sustain a strong internal and external user base. In addition, the RE will work with Knight Campus and UO facilities personnel on installation and infrastructure projects.
This is a full-time position that reports to the Senior Associate Vice President for Research. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in bioengineering/biomedical engineering, material science engineering, materials science, physics, biophysics, biology, chemistry, or related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience within shared research/equipment facilities with a strong focus on biological samples and experiments.
• Three years of experience working with biocharacterization and/or biofabrication, including experience with techniques such as biomaterial analysis, 3D bioprinting, cell culture and analysis, rheological analysis, or microscopy.
• Experience in project management, staff and/or student supervision, financial/budget administration relevant to a scientific/technical facility.
Professional Competencies
• Knowledge of research laboratory safety and regulations, as well as facility infrastructure, operations, and maintenance.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, administrators, and external partners.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Composite Design Engineer will lead the development and design of FRP (fiber-reinforced polymer composite products for infrastructure applications. This engineer leader will utilize their strong background in composite materials and processes, particularly in closed molding methods such as RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) and vacuum infusion, structural engineering capabilities and knowledge of infrastructure and related codes to develop infrastructure products like tanks, buildings, and structural covers.

Collaborate with the Composite Sales Manager to develop tailored design solutions for customer projects.
Collaborate with the Composite Sales Manager to identify new product development opportunities and cultivate strategic OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) relationships that drive innovation and long-term business growth.
Drive value engineering initiatives to enhance design efficiency and reduce cost.
Oversee and optimize manufacturing processes, especially closed molding techniques (RTM, vacuum infusion).
Collaborate on material selection, including resins, reinforcements, core materials, adhesives, and coatings.
Interpret and apply relevant codes and standards (e.g., IBC (International Building Code), AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), etc.) to ensure code compliance in structural designs.
Perform structural analysis and guide product testing and validation.
Work closely with the retiring engineer through a transition period to absorb institutional knowledge, processes, and legacy designs.
Support cross-functional teams including production, QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control), sales, and product and project management.
Interface with customers, certification agencies, and third-party engineers as needed.
Represent the company at key composite industry events (e.g., trade shows, technical conferences) to stay current with industry trends and strengthen professional networks.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.

Expertise in closed-mold composite processes
Strong structural engineering capabilities and working knowledge of composite materials - resins, fibers, cores, adhesives, etc.
Familiarity with infrastructure products and relevant codes and standards for infrastructure (IBC, ACI (American Concrete Institute), AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction), ASCE, AASHTO, ASTM).
Proficiency in 3D modeling CAD (Computer-aided design) (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.). SolidWorks preferred.
Proficiency in structural analysis tools desired, but not required (e.g., FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software like ANSYS (Engineering Simulation Software), SolidWorks Simulation, or similar).
PE (Professional Engineer) license is highly beneficial but not required.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager with the setup, management, and closeout of projects at the Regional office or Jobsite to accomplish project objectives by planning, scheduling, and executing project activities throughout each phase to completion.
Understand and comply with all WPI policies, procedures, and corporate safety program.
Actively participate in the safety plans and measures of the assigned projects.
Review contract language, scope of work, and special provisions in the contract. Make sure project team members are aware of these items.
Assist with the buyout and procurement of material, subcontractor, and engineering quotes.
Prepare RFI's, submittals, and shop drawings.
Support and visit assigned job sites and participate in job meetings as required.
Price change requests and update the budget promptly.
Prepare, review, and report weekly productions.
Review the weekly job cost report with the project Foreman and team.
Prepare billings and approve invoices for payment.
Track progress and spending, ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget.
Support the implementation of job schedules.
Coordinate warranties, O&M's, and closeout on projects.
Requirements
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Business, Accounting, or related field.
Minimum Requirements
Ability to diagnose and process key information, recognize critical areas on the job that could impact profitability, and then actively navigate the project away from risks and liabilities for a successful outcome.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Strong oral and written communication skills is required.
Ability to work in team environment is required.
Strong customer service skills are required.
Ability to multitask, think critically, and problem-solve is required.
Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught is required.
Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments.
Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, and communicate with coworkers.
Preferred Requirements
Experience with drywall, metal-stud framing and ACT in the commercial market.
Local to office is preferred

Position Summary
Perform a range of technical/engineering assignments under the supervision of a senior engineer on less complex assignments. Generally, functions in the following activities: engineering design packages for replacement of in-kind equipment, designs to address maintenance needs, construction inspections, general space management plans, infrastructure alterations, infrastructure management, specialty engineering services, and some project management responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Performs a range of mechanical/civil design, development, analysis, or review tasks under supervision.
Provides less complex AutoCAD facility engineering design drawings, statement of work bid packages, and project cost estimates.
Able to assemble design specifications for projects.
Understands the construction process and is able to apply this knowledge to general work responsibilities.
Ensures compliance with established standards, guides, precedents, methods, and techniques within the discipline.
Conducts site visits, experimental investigations and analyzes engineering problems, proposes solutions and alternatives, and provides recommendations.
Generates space management plans under supervision.
Coordinates contractor on-site visits.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field.
Must have 1 year of job-related experience.
Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Ability to pass a Fit for Duty employment test to verify the ability to meet the physical and functional demands of the position.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
