What You Need

The primary focus of the furnace engineer is toward increasing efficiencies in all areas of the process including raw material usage, energy consumption, process control, furnace condition and final total percent pack efficiency. Monitors energy prices and usage and recommends most cost effective energy input. Monitors furnace and forehearth condition and takes appropriate preventive actions to prevent furnace outage or leaks. Knows response to power outage procedures, as well as glass leak procedures, etc.
· Writes and maintains job instructions, process setup sheets and process check sheets utilizing coach and primary employee feedback.
· Initiate cost reduction ideas into the fiberglass melting and forming process to further the goal of being the safest, high quality, low cost fiberglass producer. Conducts production trials with both product and or process improvement studies that support continued improvement efforts.
· Directs multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizes completion of projects according to company objectives. Documentation of projects and process changes are communicated and updated.
· Ensure process setups are documented, communicated and adhered to on a daily basis to meet customer and company standards.
· Maximizes production efficiency. Identifies opportunities for productivity improvements and takes appropriate action. Optimizes existing processes and products.
Background profile:
BS Chemical, Ceramic, Materials Science or equivalent required.

Organization and Position Overview
Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.
The Senior Principal Engineer, Environmental provides technical leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of environmental and sustainability programs, securing environmental permits with the support of internal SMEs, and supporting the design of a best-in-class pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. They possess deep technical knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting and understand current best practices for engineering and administrative controls. They maintain relationships with other internal experts and interact with regulators and inspectors.
This role reports to the Sr Director - HSE, Lilly Medicine Foundry, and will be the first of two environmental professionals on the HSE team who will own all the environmental programs for the site. Division of programs will be determined based on the expertise of two successful candidates.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with design teams, Lilly engineers, and other SME to design and deliver a best-in-class pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
* Develop and implement environmental programs, procedures, tools, and management systems, fully leveraging digital, innovative solutions.

Summary

What You'll Be Doing:
You will be part of MQ (Manufacturing and Quality) IT, an organization that drives manufacturing operational excellence and productivity efforts through utilization of technology. MQ IT strives to enable the making of medicine "with safety first and quality always".
As MES System Engineer your main function is to Design, Develop, Deliver and Qualify the MES solution for the Lebanon API manufacturing facility, leveraging your deep technical knowledge in the MES and pharmaceutical manufacturing domain. You will also partner with the process automation and operations area and global IT teams to determine innovative ways to develop the MES recipes and implement and support global systems and components related to manufacturing execution.
How You'll Succeed:
* Be a Leader in the deployment, support, and management of Syncade MES technologies.
* Drive and oversee the implementation of new system deployments and upgrades, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
* Develop and optimize MES solutions that integrate seamlessly with DCS (e.g., DeltaV), ERP, SCADA, and data historian systems.
* Author and maintain complex MES recipes and workflows, ensuring alignment local standards and best practices.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Automation, IT, Quality, Operations) to ensure MES solutions meet business and regulatory requirements and production schedules.
* Drive standardization and replication of MES components across global sites.
* Ensure MES systems are compliant with FDA, GMP, cybersecurity, and data integrity standards.
* Lead validation efforts including CSV documentation, IQ/OQ/PQ execution, and audit readiness.
* Stay current with MES technology trends and proactively identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
* Provide expert-level troubleshooting and technical support for MES systems, addressing complex issues promptly.
* Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff to enhance team capabilities.
* Dynamically adapt road map to site evolution/strategic directions, and new trends/issues
* Ensure site operational readiness from MES and Digital Execution Strategy
* Enable a strong site culture based in Lilly values, expectations, and operational excellence standards.

What You Should Bring:
* Deep knowledge and experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems, preferably Emerson's Syncade MES platform.
* Understanding of regulatory requirements in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), such as FDA regulations for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
* Solid knowledge of Computer System Validation, GAMP, and GMP.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze, anticipate, and resolve complex issues (technical, operational, or business-related) through sound problem-solving techniques.
* Effectively prioritize and escalate issues
