The Responsibilities
We are seeking a qualified individual who has experience installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying electromechanical equipment, preferably in the field. Troubleshoot technical problems and systems issues.
Determine technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution.
Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations.
This position will also require the individual to assess Customer needs and recommends solutions in accordance with product specifications and Customer Specifications.
Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives as needed. Act as local on-site representative to customer's organization. Manage all territory responsibilities including Preventive Maintenance & upgrades including software & hardware. This position requires the individual to provide service support in the hospital/clinic laboratory environment.
Responsible for individual parts management, online training, and administrative expense reporting.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Required:
Education: Minimum of an Associate's degree in Electronics or Electrical/MechanicalEngineering, or equivalent 4 years of military or field service experience required.
Experience: Minimum 4 years experience installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying electromechanical equipment, preferably in the field, required.

The Work Environment
Typical work hours with overtime required in a outside field engineer environment. Must have the discipline, organization skills and self-motivation to work autonomously in a home office environment. On a typical workday, 80% of time meeting with people, 20% of the time on computer, doing paperwork, or on phone.

Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000 and is bonus eligible. Unirac is seeking a Product Development Engineer with a proven track record of bringing innovative solutions to market. Product development engineers at Unirac work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop products that delight our customers with a strong focus on innovation, manufacturability, and cost-control. PD engineers apply principles of engineering to evaluate new and existing products, utilizing state-of-the-art tools and physical testing methods. The Product Development Engineer serves as a technical lead, leveraging their experience to guiding engineering programs and initiatives from ideation through execution while meeting project schedule targets and product functional, performance, and cost requirement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Innovate, conceive, design, engineer and develop products and/or components to provide new or improved function, to enter new markets and/or reduce costs of legacy products, in accordance with documented product requirements.
Engineer products in accordance with appropriate regulatory requirements and associated standards, such as model building and electrical codes, ASCE 7, aluminum or steel design manuals, ASTM standards, etc.
Select appropriate materials for applications, considering strength, deflection, cost, finish, corrosion, friction, etc.
Engineer products considering techniques such as design for manufacturability, assembly, reliability.
Consider ergonomic factors in product design, and how a product will actually install in the field
Provide system level costs for new products
Develop product acceptance criteria and test plans.
Document product designs, engineering, test results and engineering changes in engineering reports.
Review and approve Unirac engineering and test reports for new product introductions
Create and/or order prototypes in the conception and development of new products and document results in engineering and/or test reports
Create presentations and present engineering designs and changes as required
Coordinate, communicate, interact and provide technical support to other functional groups
Investigate new technologies, tools and processes and make recommendations for adoption as appropriate
Ensure goals, schedules, cost targets and budgets are met
Provide leadership and guidance to members of the PD group and others as needed
Provide mentorship as needed.
Maintain working knowledge of customer requirements and competitor trends
Provide business level strategic thinking / and guidance based on engineering experience and expertise.
Requirements
BS in CE, ME, ArchE or other as relevant or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical, or structural engineering or similar
Knowledge related to products manufactured via one of more of the following processes; extrusion, roll forming, casting, injection molding, stamping or machining.
General understanding of load calculations and structural engineering.
Demonstrated expertise with engineering methods and tools including structural and/or mechanical engineering methods, CAD, Finite Element Analysis, , as well as office tools MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Experience working with Codes and Standards (International Building Code, National Electrical Code), and ability to effectively communicate with Nationally Recognized Test Laboratories and local Authorities Having Jurisdiction
Desired Areas of Expertise
Desired experience with residential, commercial and/or utility scale photovoltaic systems, product requirements and engineering processes, especially regarding system mounting structure
Desired experience with photovoltaic module and racking certification requirements
Desired subject matter expert / authority in at least one relevant technical subject (i.e Aluminum or Steel Design, Code, etc)

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electron Beam Welding Engineer that will be responsible for in-house electron beam welding (EBW) capability development and technology maturation. In this role, you will work on the Welding Development team to assist in the advancement and implementation of welding and manufacturing capabilities. The candidate will partner with design, testing, materials, modeling & simulation, and reliability engineers to develop weld joint design, weld techniques, weld specifications, and inspection methods needed for welded KP-FHR and test platform assemblies.
Responsibilities
Procedure Development & Qualification
* Design, develop, and maintain EBW procedures and supporting documentation (WPS/PQR) to meet material, joint, and quality requirements in compliance with applicable codes, standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API), and regulatory expectations.
* Develop and execute weld qualification plans, including test coupons and validation trials, in coordination with quality and materials teams
* Anticipate future welding needs by aligning EBW procedures and qualification strategies with evolving product designs, manufacturing processes, and regulatory demands.
Quality Assurance & Process Optimization
* Oversee and review EBW inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and applicable quality standards.
* Analyze weld test data to identify trends, determine root causes of defects, and implement corrective actions to enhance welding performance and reliability.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize EBW processes, increase efficiency, reduce cost, and maintain high-quality output.
Collaboration & Training
* Partner with design engineers, production teams, and key stakeholders to integrate EBW processes into the manufacturing workflow effectively.
* Provide hands-on training and mentorship to welding technicians and operators on EBW techniques, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
Technical Documentation & Reporting
* Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including process instructions, work procedures, and detailed reports.
* Ensure accurate recordkeeping of EBW procedures, inspection results, and quality control data to support traceability and continuous improvement.
Equipment Ownership & Maintenance
* Ensure performance, reliability, and availability of EBW systems, including high-vacuum chambers, beam control units, and power supplies.
* Monitor and calibrate critical parameters (e.g., beam alignment, focus, power output, vacuum integrity) to maintain process consistency and compliance with specifications.
* Lead maintenance and upgrade initiatives, including preventive planning, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and system improvements to enhance automation and long-term equipment reliability.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
* Minimum 5 years of welding engineering experience, with substantial hands-on experience in EBW required
* Experience with weld inspection methods, including both destructive testing and non-destructive examination (NDE) techniques
* Hands-on experience working with austenitic stainless steels, carbon steels, piping systems, and pressure vessels
* Experience leading cross-functional projects or mentoring junior engineers and technicians is preferred.
* Experience with manual and CNC machining operations is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Strong knowledge of EBW processes, high-vacuum systems, and high-voltage equipment operation
* Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering and assembly drawings, including weld symbols and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)

The 5324 Navigation, Pointing, and Control (NPC) Motion Systems Department develops advanced real-time NPC solutions and performs navigation system and thermal, vibration, and shock analysis for projects critical to national security. Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electron Beam Welding Engineer that will be responsible for in-house electron beam welding (EBW) capability development and technology maturation. In this role, you will work on the Welding Development team to assist in the advancement and implementation of welding and manufacturing capabilities. The candidate will partner with design, testing, materials, modeling & simulation, and reliability engineers to develop weld joint design, weld techniques, weld specifications, and inspection methods needed for welded KP-FHR and test platform assemblies.
Responsibilities
Procedure Development & Qualification
Design, develop, and maintain EBW procedures and supporting documentation (WPS/PQR) to meet material, joint, and quality requirements in compliance with applicable codes, standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API), and regulatory expectations.
Develop and execute weld qualification plans, including test coupons and validation trials, in coordination with quality and materials teams
Anticipate future welding needs by aligning EBW procedures and qualification strategies with evolving product designs, manufacturing processes, and regulatory demands.
Quality Assurance & Process Optimization
Oversee and review EBW inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and applicable quality standards.
Analyze weld test data to identify trends, determine root causes of defects, and implement corrective actions to enhance welding performance and reliability.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize EBW processes, increase efficiency, reduce cost, and maintain high-quality output.
Collaboration & Training
Partner with design engineers, production teams, and key stakeholders to integrate EBW processes into the manufacturing workflow effectively.
Provide hands-on training and mentorship to welding technicians and operators on EBW techniques, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
Technical Documentation & Reporting
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including process instructions, work procedures, and detailed reports.
Ensure accurate recordkeeping of EBW procedures, inspection results, and quality control data to support traceability and continuous improvement.
Equipment Ownership & Maintenance
Ensure performance, reliability, and availability of EBW systems, including high-vacuum chambers, beam control units, and power supplies.
Monitor and calibrate critical parameters (e.g., beam alignment, focus, power output, vacuum integrity) to maintain process consistency and compliance with specifications.
Lead maintenance and upgrade initiatives, including preventive planning, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and system improvements to enhance automation and long-term equipment reliability.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
Minimum 5 years of welding engineering experience, with substantial hands-on experience in EBW required
Experience with weld inspection methods, including both destructive testing and non-destructive examination (NDE) techniques
Hands-on experience working with austenitic stainless steels, carbon steels, piping systems, and pressure vessels
Experience leading cross-functional projects or mentoring junior engineers and technicians is preferred.
Experience with manual and CNC machining operations is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of EBW processes, high-vacuum systems, and high-voltage equipment operation
Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering and assembly drawings, including weld symbols and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and AWS structural welding standards
Skilled in using CAD software such as SolidWorks for part modeling and drawing generation
