Founding Software Engineer
Staff Software Engineer job 10 miles from Carmichael
Job Description
We're building the world’s leading platform that tracks and manipulates brand presence inside ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and every other LLM that's replacing Google.
While marketers are still obsessed with keyword rankings, we're solving a harder problem: how to monitor, measure, and influence what AI models say about your brand when they answer over 200 million questions daily.
This is the most important marketing category of the decade.
The Technical Challenge: This isn't another SaaS dashboard. We're building infrastructure for an entirely new category:
Multi-Model Interrogation: Systematically querying ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity at scale without getting rate-limited. Building robust APIs that adapt to model updates, different response formats, and access restrictions.
LLM Response Intelligence: Parsing unstructured AI responses to identify brand mentions, competitive positioning, and citation patterns. Building NLP systems that understand context and implied mentions across thousands of prompt variations.
Model Memory Tracking: Monitoring how content gets ingested into training data and detecting when competitors gain/lose presence in model responses. Creating real-time alerts for brand positioning shifts.
Prompt Engineering for Brand Injection: Reverse-engineering which content formats influence model training. Building feedback loops to test content optimization against actual model responses.
Cross-Model Prediction: Managing brand presence across models with different training cycles and biases. Predicting which strategies persist through model updates.
Who You Are
You've been building things since you were a kid - this is your craft, not your career
You're AI-native: You don't just use LLMs, you understand how they work under the hood
You see the technical challenge here and get excited, not overwhelmed
You ship fast and iterate faster - we're talking days, not sprints
You've built systems that handle API complexity, rate limiting, and data parsing at scale
What You'll Build
Core platform for monitoring brand presence across multiple LLMs
API orchestration systems that can query models without triggering restrictions
NLP pipelines that extract meaningful insights from unstructured AI responses
Real-time monitoring and alerting systems for brand mention changes
Content optimization tools that influence model training and responses
What We Don't Want
Engineers who need extensive management or hand-holding
People who think this is just another web scraping problem
Anyone afraid of working with rapidly evolving AI APIs and undocumented model behaviors
Resume builders looking for their next 18-month stint
The Reality: This represents founding-level equity, in a venture-backed company, targeting a multi-billion-dollar outcome in the most important category of the decade. You'll work directly with proven founders who have scaled to $1BN+ before. And alongside co-founder/CTO Ryan Brown building the infrastructure layer for how brands compete in an AI-first world.
Long hours, high intensity, constant iteration. But also the chance to own a significant piece of the future for AI-native brand marketing. If you want stability, go somewhere else. If you want to build something that will define how business gets done for the next 20 years, this is it.
Apply: Show us what you've built. Send your GitHub, a project you shipped, or code that handles complex API integrations. Tell us why you're the engineer who can solve problems no one else is even thinking about yet.
Requirements
4+ years of professional experience shipping production-grade code
Deep understanding of modern LLMs, APIs, and model behavior
Expertise with rate-limited APIs, retries, and graceful failure handling
Experience with NLP, prompt engineering, and extracting structured insights from unstructured data
Proven ability to work independently in fast-paced environments with minimal direction
Strong debugging skills across distributed systems
Bonus: Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and AI agent frameworks
Benefits
Founding equity in a venture-backed company targeting a multi-billion-dollar outcome
Direct mentorship from founders who’ve scaled to $1BN+
Remote-first culture with high-intensity, high-ownership workstyle
Early team influence over architecture, tooling, and culture
Massive upside: you’re not just an engineer, you’re shaping a new category
Access to cutting-edge AI tools, credits, and training resources
Annual offsite with the full team in iconic locations
