Modeling & Simulation Software Engineer 2
to join us.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in either Northridge, CA, Tucson, AZ or Linthicum, MD
The successful candidate will assist with integrating both models and operational flight code into our integrated flight simulation and effects-based simulation for the SiAW missile system. Work will be primarily in C++, but some models are implemented in MATLAB. The candidate will likely also work with python scenario generation tools, as well as developing analysis tools in both python and MATLAB.
Our modeling and simulation team is a multidisciplinary team in which each member may have opportunities to work in software development, systems engineering, model and algorithm development, and various types of analysis. The group is an excellent place for engineers interested in gaining a broad understanding of a missile system. The initial focus of this position will be software development.
Basic Qualifications for a Modeling & Simulation Software Engineer 2- (Level 2):
BS degree in software engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, systems engineering, or a related field is required with 2 years of experience or an MS degree in areas above with 0 year of experience is required.
Experience with C++ in the object-oriented paradigm.
Experience in python for either analysis or tool development (beyond simple scripting).
Asynchronous development
Experience with at least one of the following:
AFSIM
Numpy and Pandas
Cameo or similar MBSE or sysml tool
MATLAB development and analysis
Working with 6DOF simulations
Academic background with physics sufficient to understand the basics of flight dynamics and sensors. (Typical engineering level physics courses and material covered in first year engineering physics courses will suffice) or college level coursework in statistics.
Current Secret security clearance adjudicated within the past 5 years, and be able to obtain a SAP level program clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with requirements verification and validation, or in performing analysis with python or matlab.
Hardware in the Loop systems.
Experience in high performance computing or monte carlo simulations.

Principal or Senior Principal
level engineer in
Software or Modeling and Simulation,
with a strong background in
C++

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in either Northridge, CA, Tucson, AZ or Linthicum, MD locations.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will primarily assist with integrating our C++ based simulation of the AARGM ER missile system into a system of simulations. The candidate must also be able to use our simulations to support live fire testing and to assist with verifying the weapon system with our simulations.
Our modeling and simulation team is a multidisciplinary team in which each member may have opportunities to work in software development, systems engineering, model and algorithm development, and various types of analysis.
The group is an excellent place for engineers interested in gaining a broad understanding of a missile system. The initial focus of this position will be software development.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer, Modeling and Simulation Software - (Level 03):
BS degree in software engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, systems engineering, or a related field is required with 5 years of experience or an MS degree in areas above with 3 years of experience is required.
Experience and proficiency in developing medium to large
C++
cross platform desktop applications with the understanding of compilers, linkers and OS, Windows/Linux
Python and MATLAB savvy
Knowledgeable in object-oriented design principles, with experience using multiple software design patterns
Understanding of distributed computing (Client-Server architecture, n-tier architecture, peer-to-peer architecture)
Experience with 6-DOF simulations or related simulations, or guidance, navigation and control algorithms for airborne platforms.
Demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions to difficult technical problems
Sufficient background in physics to understand the basics of flight dynamics and sensors (material covered in first year engineering physics courses will suffice)
Current US Government Secret security clearance adjudicated within the past 5 years and able to update to SCI

Experience in estimating/planning budget and schedule, and in tracking to that plan. Specific experience in doing so via an agile paradigm is strongly preferred.

Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $206,000.00Salary Range 2: $95,300.00 - $165,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
