  • What Staker Parson Companies does to give back to the community

    We are committed to strengthening our communities. PARSON CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM In 2000, our company and its founders pledged $1 million to Weber State University to help found the Parson Construction Management Technology Program. This program provides education and training to several hundred students and benefits the entire construction industry. ROCKS BUILD OUR WORLD Mining and aggregate production are the foundation of our business. For this reason, we educate thousands of students each year about the vital role aggregates play in our everyday lives because rocks really do build our world. The outreach program dovetails with the fourth-grade geology science curriculum and provides students a fun, interactive, and hands-on learning experience. For more information on the program, or to see if we can visit your local school, please contact Lisa Nielson at lisa.nielson@stakerparson.com. RBOW Most of our sites are available to schools, church, and other youth groups as an active educational resource. Visits can also be used for class projects. While at the sites, people learn about concrete and asphalt as well as mining operations through hands-on learning activities. Take a look at this video from Quest Academy. CAUSES We believe in strengthening the communities we serve through awareness campaigns and community initiatives. We support our Most Don’t, an initiative in Tooele County to change the perception that most teens drink when in fact, Most Don’t. We have also formed a partnership with Parents Empowered, Utah’s media and education campaign designed to prevent and reduce underage drinking. Several trucks from our ready-mix fleet feature innovative graphic messages to encourage parents to set concrete “no drinking” rules for their teens. UCAIR Staker Parson supports cleaner air for our communities. We are a proud sponsor of UCAIR and its initiatives to encourage cleaner air in Utah. DONATIONS Some of the organizations we support through monetary and material donations include: The Christmas Box House Bear Lake Memorial Hospital Expansion United Way Homes for our Troops Salvation Army Habitat for Humanity Utah Theater Friends of Utah State Parks National Cutting Horse Association This is the Place Heritage Park Daughters of Utah Pioneers National Ability Center Children’s Justice Center High Valley Arts Foundation Girl Scouts of America Boy Scouts of America
