Pay Information
$36.30 - $41.50 hourly starting wage
Job Purpose
Technician role critical to measuring and maturing of stamping dies, aluminum die cast or plastic injection molds, and instrument panel jigs at all auto plants across North America. Support new technology and technology transfer from Japan/North America development teams into production across North America production facilities. Provide production and/or emergency support related to manufacturing issues in support of production. They will measure a variety of parts/dies from stamping, casting and plastics by utilizing different measuring methods including Coordinate Measuring Machine, laser scanning, and hand tool measurements. They will also provide accurate and concise measurement results for evaluation and maturation of the tool/part.
Key Accountabilities
* Programs/operates Coordinate Measuring Machine to measure/confirm fixtures/parts/cavities/repairs of casting, stamping and/or plastics dies/molds.
* Generates accurate and concise reports of quality measurements for easy evaluation
* Communicate all aspects of measurements to management/customer from set-up, layout, alignment, and results.
* Proactively looks for/identifies potential improvement to measurement process and quality
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Experience:
* 2 Years of Related Experience in Quality, Tool and Die field, or qualifying degree
Other Job-Specific Skills:
* Effective communication, under limited supervision, relies on experience and exercises independent judgement to determine best approach to achieve desired outcomes
* Blueprint reading, Coordinate Measuring Machine operation, Microsoft Office
Working Conditions
* 90% working within climate-controlled environment / 10% hands on (line side investigation)
* Work occasionally involves manufacturing floor investigation
* Occasional overtime weekly (sometimes more), off-shifts, weekend/shutdown activity as needed to complete project requirements.

Requirements:

Minimum of 2-5 years experience as an EDM machinist in a manufacturing environment.
Proficient in reading technical drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Strong knowledge of EDM processes and machine programming (FANUC, Mitsubishi, Sodick, etc.).
Familiarity with CNC programming and CAD/CAM software is a plus.
Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills.

What you'll do:
The Fuel and Motion Control Systems Division of Eaton's Aerospace Group has an opening for a Certified Precision & Superfinish CNC Machinist. This position is based in Euclid, OH.
The Euclid facility has approximately 300 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace Fuel Pumping components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
Position Overview:
This position supports the machining of Main drive Shafts, Impeller Shafts and Gear which will later be assembled into Aircraft Fuel Pumps. Responsibilities include, set up, maintain and operate CNC thread and surface grinders, manual O.D. grinders, I.D. grinder and honing machines.
Perform visual and precision dimensional inspections and maintain accurate documentation on a variety of parts in accordance with ANSI Y14-5 and the certified operator program.
Assistance may be given to other operators on proper operational procedures.
Perform 5S and other job related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Functions:
• Perform set up, which includes selection, mounting, balancing and truing wheel, securing work holding device/work rotating device setting speeds, feeds and drive dogs.
• Work from operational sketches and blueprints to determine size and form. Where not given, select appropriate grinding wheel.
• Use a variety of mechanical and electronic precision measuring instruments to check size before, during and after operation.
• Majority of work consists of close tolerance grinding operations where quality finishes are necessary and frequent changes in set-up are required. Concentricity or run-out problems may be encountered, and work must be indicated before grinding.
• Set up and operate all equipment with minimum assistance and be familiar with the work procedures involved in grinding a large variety of parts. Changes in set-up, maintenance of close tolerances, and quality finishes require almost constant attention.
• Move material within the cell.
• Perform minor machine maintenance.
• Perform more than one operation at a time as directed by the supervisor.
• Burr work internal to the cycle as needed.
• Perform necessary part marking.
• Maintain accurate lot control traceability, record keeping, logbook entries, NCR's and associated documentation according to QCP.
• Chart, plot and react to data per SPC requirement. Load and unload Datamytes.
• Set up, maintain and operate CNC turret grinders and any associated equipment
• Lapping may be required to meet print
• Train other operators on proper operational procedures
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Must reside within a 50 mile radius of work location; no relocation benefit is provided.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Immune Specific Accountabilities
Recognizes and understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
Responsible for immediately reporting flight/product safety concerns.
Participates in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
Recognizes and understands the Just Culture policy.
Specific Accountabilities
Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed.
Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces.
Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers. Troubleshoots, debugs and modifies to achieve expected performance.
Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
Carries out other duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements
High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.
Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design, fabrication methods and processes, metallurgy and heat treating.
Working knowledge of welding, hydraulics, electricity and pneumatics.
Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
Strong mathematical aptitude.
Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, rework process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals, and MSDS labels.
Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.
Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods.
Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program; or equivalent.
Attainment of trade certification.
Background Information
The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to high school graduation and completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school. The person requires an ability to understand, utilize and communicate specialized information in speech and written text. This specialized training is often formalized and recognized by a specific certificate, diploma or license.
Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is one to three years.
