Stanford Children's Health Leadership

William A. Kennedy MD, is a board-certified pediatric urologist and Chief of Pediatric Urology at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. He is also an Associate Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Kennedy earned his AB and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University, and obtained his MD at Columbia University. He completed his surgical training at Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia University, along with a pediatric urology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In 2010-11, he was a Sloan Fellow at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Kennedy began his faculty career at the Stanford University School of Medicine and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in 1997. Among his many current leadership positions at Stanford, Dr. Kennedy is Chair of the Finance Committee for the Pediatric & Obstetrical Faculty Practice Organization, Associate Chief Medical Officer of Stanford Children’s Health, and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Packard Children’s Health Alliance, the hospital’s new medical foundation. Dr. Kennedy has published 32 peer-reviewed articles, 19 book chapters and one book. He is a section editor and manuscript review consultant for several professional journals. He is a nationally known lecturer and has been honored by organizations for his teaching, research, and clinical accomplishments. Dr. Kennedy’s most recent clinical innovation has been the implementation of tele urology services throughout the Stanford Children’s Health Northern California healthcare network. Since the project go-live in February of 2013, he has provided telemedicine services to over 500 patients. He has recently been appointed Medical Director of Telehealth at Stanford Children’s Health and looks forward to scaling telemedicine services to include all Stanford Pediatric clinical specialties and broadening the geographic scope of this network.
