A Brief Overview
The Clinical Nurse (CN) is an RN who provides hands-on care to patients, practicing in an evidence-based manner, within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. Communicates updates to patient requests on a daily basis until request is completed.

Administrative Duties:
Performs administrative duties in a timely, accurate and collaborative manner according to policy and procedures within the RN scope of practice, including, but not limited to:
Retrieves voicemails and incoming faxes and handling at least once per hour.
Preparing forms and managing prior authorizations throughout the shift, completing incoming work by the end of the shift.
Epic environment: Assists providers with their in-baskets and open charts; monitor other MD and RN in-baskets when assigned.
Supplies and Infection Control:
Maintains exam rooms and nurses' stations; stocking supplies, cleaning and disinfecting equipment and instruments after use on every patient.
Transports specimens according to policies and procedures in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensures equipment is working properly, notifying the appropriate person of needed repairs in a timely manner.
Collaboratively performs departmental duties to ensure OSHA, infection control and accrediting body compliance, including, but not limited to, checking refrigerator/freezer temperature, checking medication/supply expiration dates, autoclave sterility checks, departmental lab QA, in a timely, accurate and efficient manner according to policy and procedure.

Responsibilities
The Neurosciences and Stroke Program Coordinator is fundamental to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the stroke program directed towards the provision of quality services for patients who are experiencing a stroke or neuro head trauma from a multi-disciplinary perspective throughout the continuum of care. This individual works collaboratively with the Stroke Program Medical, the Neuroendovascular physician and Neurosurgeons in a mutually supportive relationship which is essential to the success of the program.
The Neurosciences and Stroke Program Coordinator is an expert nurse who provides leadership for the organization of services and systems necessary for a collaborative approach to stroke and Neuro care. Responsibilities
Staff RN is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and older adults. The Registered Nurse coordinates the care of the patient with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, directs and guides the OR Technician and other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Works with other departments to provide a continuum of care and co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures. Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
4. Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
5. Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
6. Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
7. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Pay Transparency
St. Francis Medical Center offers competitive compensation and the current compensation range for this role is $48.65 to $65.40. Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.

Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient's clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
5. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
6. Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
7. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):
1. In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
3. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
4. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.
