Your Opportunity The role of the Geologist is to perform tasks and assignments associated with geotechnical and geological assessments, hydrogeological studies, subsurface investigations; sampling of soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater; data interpretation/evaluation and deliverable preparation. Your Key Responsibilities The selected candidate will: - Oversee advancement of soil and rock borings, including installation of groundwater monitoring wells and other downhole instrumentation. - Prepare soil boring log and well construction diagrams. - Perform site inspection of earthwork during construction. - Conduct field inspections and assessments of geohazards, such as landslides, rockfall, and abandoned mining features. - Learn and follow standard operating procedures for work assigned. - Demonstrate ability to analyze field and technical data. - Draft technical reports. - Complete applicable company and client required health & safety training (including OSHA required training) and follow health & safety policies and procedures. Your Capabilities and Credentials The ideal candidate will have: - The ability to effectively communicate project status to project manager and appropriate staff. - Strong technical writing skills. - Be an advocate for health, safety, and clients. - A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. - A valid driver's license and good driving record. - The ability and willingness to travel regionally, but mostly in Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia up to 50 percent of time. - Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug and alcohol screening. - Working knowledge of field sampling techniques. APTIM is seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist, but will consider an entry level candidate, in the Atlanta, GA area, on a full-time basis, in primary support of our stormwater compliance program. There will also be opportunities to participate in a variety of other environmental compliance support tasks, including but not limited to, solid waste, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, aboveground storage tanks, spill prevention, DOT and RCRA compliance, site assessment and remediation, and/or environmental data management. The successful candidate will be experienced in supporting an environmental team. This position will require travel to client facilities to conduct stormwater inspection/sampling activities, environmental compliance reviews and/or gather related data. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: Collecting environmental samples in the field and preparing and preserving samples for delivery to an analytical laboratory. Calibrating and using technical instruments. APTIM is seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist, but will consider an entry level candidate, in the Atlanta, GA area, on a full-time basis, in primary support of our stormwater compliance program. There will also be opportunities to participate in a variety of other environmental compliance support tasks, including but not limited to, solid waste, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, aboveground storage tanks, spill prevention, DOT and RCRA compliance, site assessment and remediation, and/or environmental data management. The successful candidate will be experienced in supporting an environmental team. This position will require travel to client facilities to conduct stormwater inspection/sampling activities, environmental compliance reviews and/or gather related data. **Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:** + Collecting environmental samples in the field and preparing and preserving samples for delivery to an analytical laboratory. + Calibrating and using technical instruments. + Gain familiarity with site specific requirements through review of permit and planning documents, including the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) or State-Specific General Permit, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan, and any other applicable plans that have been prepared for the site. + Demonstrate ability to efficiently plan, organize and schedule field activities within required frequencies and timeframes including adherence to required communication with client to obtain approval for site access.
