Stantec is positioned to provide engineering and/or construction support services including Construction Administration, Construction Quality Management, Owner's Engineer, and on-site project representatives for multiple clients in the power industry (coal-fired, hydroelectric, and solar), dams and levees, and municipal utilities. Projects will vary and may consist of landfill construction or closures, modifications or construction of new dams or levees, installation of solar arrays and supporting infrastructure, ground improvements, municipal pipelines, pump stations, water treatment plants, etc.
Your Opportunity:
Stantec's Construction Support Services (CSS) Program is growing, with project needs in the Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and Georgia areas for multiple top tier clients. Stantec's on-site services will be performed by a Project Team responsible for monitoring construction activities to verify that construction is performed per the design and in accordance with the contract documents. A multi-discipline team of engineers and other professionals will provide office support to the Project Team, as required.
Stantec is seeking full-time Construction Quality Field Representatives with our Water Business Line. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic professional who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.
Your Key Responsibilities:
May include, but are not limited to, the abilities to:
- Serve as Stantec's on-site site safety representative, with ability to maintain a safe working environment for themselves and others by participating in daily safety briefings, observations, and walkdowns prior to executing the work or when conditions change.
- Serve as the liaison between the engineer and the contractor.
- Interact routinely, effectively, and professionally with Client and contractor representatives and the Stantec office team.
- Oversee and/or perform required testing (will vary by project type) and maintain required documentation in accordance with the project documents.
- Operate computerized and digital testing and monitoring equipment.
- Track construction progress, observed issues and resolutions, field discussions, etc.
- Review and respond to daily construction issues, working with the design team, Client, and contractor(s) as appropriate to determine a resolution.
- Monitor adherence to contract and design documents.
- Communicate and report discrepancies and deviations from requirements to the design team and Client.
- Conduct construction quality oversight of installed materials and equipment.
- Maintain detailed documentation (daily reports, test results, RFIs, submittals, non-conformance reports, etc.) for inclusion in progress reports and record drawings.
- Attend daily/weekly/ monthly project field meetings.
- This position will require primarily fieldwork and requires the ability to travel extensively in the region with overnight stays.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Working understanding of policies and procedures for Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) protection, including client-specific training (as required).
- Experience with field construction activities and construction quality management is required
- Knowledge and/or experience of photovoltaic (PV) systems (i.e., solar energy systems) is a plus.
- Interested candidates should have (or have the ability to obtain) certifications related to the position (ACI Level 1 Field Concrete Technician, nuclear density gauge, NICET, Geosynthetics Certification Institute's Inspector Certification Program, etc.).
- Previous construction experience with relevant experience in the following areas is preferred, but is not a prerequisite: - Working on or around power generation or industrial facilities, flood control structures and impoundments, solar energy systems, etc.
- Direct Current (DC), PV Systems, Medium Voltage (MV) systems
- Heavy earthwork and associated conformance testing
- Cast-in-place and pre-cast concrete structures
- Geosynthetic liner systems
- Fusion welded HDPE pipe
- Pump stations and force mains
- Asphalt and concrete pavement
- Water distribution systems
- Gravity pipe systems (storm sewers, sanitary sewers, etc.)
- Ability to use detailed plans for construction, technical specifications, quality management plans, and other project documents.
- Construction observation and inspection experience.
- Familiarity with materials testing requirements and construction tolerances.
- A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
- A pre-employment drug screen may also be required.
- Client specific background checks and drug screening may also be required.
- Proficient with desktop office software applications (word processor, spreadsheets, email, PDF viewers, etc.).
- Working knowledge of codes and design requirements is a plus.

Stantec is currently seeking to add a Senior Hydrogeologist to our team in a client-facing role supporting growth to facilitate ongoing groundwater remediation services. The individual in this position will help grow our power practice and work with client account managers to expand our services geographically.
The Senior Hydrogeologist will support our local environmental remediation teams as well as our long-standing regional remediation practice. This position will support project management and provide technical support for groundwater and soil remediation projects across multiple industries in the South and Gulf regions with an initial primary focus on the heavy industrial and power sector clients.
As a senior consultant, you will leverage your technical skills, industry and market knowledge, and client and partner relationships to support pursuits, win and deliver projects to grow the discipline.
The position location is flexible throughout Stantec's Gulf and East Regions, with the possibility for remote work.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to and lead business development activities, including proposals, pre- qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients.
- Assist in analyzing current and emerging technical issues, and implementing actions to proactively address market, business, regulatory, and/or economic issues.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Stantec's industry, leading technical approaches to assessment of remedial measures, remedy selection and pilot study implementation.

- Expand our site investigation and remediation practices, in collaboration with other senior managers, in the South region.
- Engage within ongoing groundwater assessment, remedy selection and pilot study execution activities centric to programs such as Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) facilities.
- Design and oversee implementation of hydrogeology field programs, including drilling and logging of overburden and bedrock core, sampling of soil and bedrock, groundwater sampling, aquifer testing (e.g., aquifer testing, slug testing, packer testing).
- Possess good business awareness and acumen and maintain a strong understanding of project management fundamentals: project scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Grow Stantec's professional relationships with stakeholders and decision makers within key Power client accounts.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform project management activities as assigned by and in support of Project Manager / Project Director.
- Conducts budget and schedule management.
- Participate in activities of design team consisting of the Architect, Engineers, Equipment Planner, and other consultants.
- Deliver day-to-day project tracking and communication with the client and project team.
- Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and minutes to the project team.
- Provide direction to the construction team on behalf of the owner.
- Develop, track, update, forecast and modify the project schedule and budget throughout all phases of the project.
- Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors.
- Support the preparation of Monthly Reports to Owner.
- Assist in plan reviews and inspections with the Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
- Participate in the negotiation of contracts of all parties to the project.
- Assist in move-in activities.
- Review all invoices and change orders associated with the project.
- Assist in resolving disputes and claims.
- Reports to Project Manager / Project Director.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong computer skills and literacy in scheduling, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software
- Understanding of and ability to read plans and specifications
- General understanding of design and construction process and requirements

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or similar.

- 3 years' experience strongly preferred along a Junior / Assistant Project Manager career track; may include Architecture, Engineering, Design or Construction Management background.

Your Opportunity
You will assist the Driller (or Senior Driller) in solid stem and hollow stem auger drilling techniques, rock coring, mud rotary drilling, and other advancement techniques. You will work under the guidance of a Driller or other member of the drilling team, overseeing all components of the move, set up, and operation of drilling rigs and other related equipment. In addition, you will provide basic maintenance, both on the job site as well as when in the shop. You will operate equipment such as pumps for water and mud, as well as other equipment and tools used to correct problem borings.

- Ability to lift drill steel and materials weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Label sample containers as directed
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs to drill rig

Your Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer, your role in our professional consulting services team is to work independently on multidisciplinary projects of various complexity as a discipline leader, through all phases of a project lifecycle. You are responsible for leading the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems on municipal water treatment plants, pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, hydroelectric power plants, and private industrial water applications in different locations across North America. Every project has its own unique challenges, and you are considered a resource for solutions to those challenges.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for various projects from preliminary design through bid and construction phases.
- Develop basis of design reports (BODR) and technical memorandums for small-to- medium size projects, setting criteria for following design stages.
- Develop design documents including drawings, specifications, and opinion of probable construction costs (OPCC).
- Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction site visits for design compliance.
- Develop HVAC calculations including building cooling and heating load calculations, air distribution system sizing, and hydronic distribution system sizing.
- Develop Plumbing calculations including domestic water, sanitary waste, and storm water systems sizing.
- Apply design codes and standards based on the project needs.
- Coordinate design with other design disciplines throughout the life of a project.
- Assist with mentoring engineers in training (EIT) to develop and strengthen their skills and technical abilities.
- Travel to job sites in your state of residence and other states (5%)
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- In-depth understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals such as psychrometric chart, refrigeration cycle and heat transfer.
- Experience in designing HVAC and Plumbing systems. Fire Protection design is a plus.
- Strong familiarity with design codes and standards of practice.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of all phases of project deliverables.
- Ability to lead one or more projects simultaneously.
- Experience with HVAC load calculation software - HAP or Trace.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, chemical storage rooms, and hydroelectric power plants.
- Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements for HVAC systems serving wastewater treatment plants.
- Strong client presentation skills.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). NCEES record ready to obtain Professional Engineering licensure.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience
