Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a Lead Biologist to join our Environmental Services Practice working within our power utility sector in the Northern California region, to provide management on our multi-discipline programs. This position includes leading desktop biological constraints reviews, and working supporting staff in completing reports, quality reviews, permit knowledge as well as maintaining key communications with the client. Your Capabilities and Credentials * Perform linear facility (i.e., utility, transportation, etc.) environmental work, including at least 3 -5 years of experience performing biological and/or permitting work for California IOUs (or equivalent). * Familiar with leading large desktop review teams. * Strong research, analysis, and reporting abilities. * Strong reviewing skills and QA/QC skills. * Detail-oriented and capable of managing and tracking large amounts of data. * Takes initiative, team-oriented professional with excellent written and communication skills. * Should be familiar with review and analysis of scientific data, maps, and drawings. * Provide support in delivering high quality work products to multi-disciplinary project teams. * Ability to identify new project opportunities and build relationships with clients. * Strong skills as a self-starter, good client forward facing/communication skills. * Understanding of Federal and State agency requirements with special-status species on linear projects. * Must have good driving record and valid driver's license. Responsibilities: * Strict adherence to Tetra Tech safety policies. * Perform facility assessments of buildings, structures, and other real property assets across the building structural/civil/architectural, mechanical/electrical/plumbing and fire protection systems. Perform utility infrastructure assessments of stormwater, wastewater, water, electrical, natural gas, compressed air, pavement, and other linear utility distribution type assets. * Conduct inventory and condition assessments of building systems consistent with the UNIFORMAT convention per ASTM E1557. * Utilize electronic mediums (smartphone, tablets, or other devices) efficiently to accurately capture inventory and condition assessment data. * Provide quality assurance over field data collected by self or others to ensure accuracy and eliminate data gaps. * Identify building/infrastructure components and document deficiencies to update the facility condition index (FCI). * Field work on-site in both CONUS and OCONUS on trips lasting 1-3 weeks. * Use of various condition assessment and inventory data systems. Project activities can also include obtaining and correlating existing building drawings, preparing data collection devices, assessment of facility exterior, interior, and roof, as well as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (MEP) and providing scope and rough order of magnitude costs for needed repairs and condition index for each assessed facility. * Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards. * Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness. * Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns. * Additional duties as required.
