Your Opportunity Stantec's Water practice has an opportunity for a Civil Engineer in Training with experience and/or interest in civil, water/wastewater, municipal utility, or water resources engineering to join our team in Sarasota, FL. The role of an entry level civil engineer is to work on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. Your responsibilities would include evaluating and designing sub-systems and also evaluating and specifying products for various projects. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include preparing calculations, conducting field work, coordinating simple tasks, and meeting attendance and recording. Smaller projects that an entry level civil engineer may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features. In general, an entry level civil engineer will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments. Your Key Responsibilities Support the project team in the development of design plans and specifications for a variety of water/reclaimed water/wastewater distribution and collection systems, and water resources projects primarily for public municipal clients Assist with the preparation of detailed engineering studies, technical and infrastructure planning reports, hydraulic models and design tasks associated with municipal distribution and collection systems, and related facilities Perform quality reviews of documents in various phases of design development including engineering calculations, design reports, and construction plans. Assist in the evaluation and selection of civil systems, equipment, and materials. Support senior staff in preparation of project cost estimates and participate in value engineering exercises. Prepare, revise, and coordinate permit applications and documentation for utility, environmental, and municipal permits through local, state and federal jurisdictions; respond to requests for additional information, and monitor and report status of various permit submittals Attend and participate in project meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants. Attend and participate in meetings with clients, municipal officials, and contractors to review project needs Take sufficient notes at meetings to document discussions and organize follow-up action items. Coordinate and keep consistent communication with other project team disciplines to ensure entire design team has same design intent and is on schedule Support construction projects with periodic field site visits, construction observation, and witnessing utility testing Assist in the review of contractor shop drawings and submittals, respond to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other construction administration tasks Prepared to step in and assist with any of the project teams tasks in order to complete projects on time, on budget, and with quality design Your Capabilities and Credentials Be a self-motivated individual, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks Candidate must have strong technical writing abilities Experience with design of water and wastewater utilities is preferred Technical knowledge in water, sewer and drainage projects is plus Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS Mapping is a plus and willingness to learn relevant software such as WaterCAD, SewerCAD, StormCAD, etc. Education and Experience Must have Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil or Environmental engineering Previous experience in civil, environmental and or water resources is a plus. The position will also provide hydrogeology support to the Water Resources Business Line. This position is based out of Stantec's West Palm Beach office. The Hydrogeologist will report to a Hydrogeologist Team Leader and will be responsible for designing, supporting, and executing hydrogeological investigations for dewatering, water supply, and aquifer recharge studies for water supply clients. This candidate also will be responsible for leading a large capacity production well design and construction projects. The successful candidate should have a background in drilling groundwater production wells, familiar with deep injection well construction, ability to oversee and support groundwater flow modeling, field investigations, conduct aquifer performance tests, project management, and technical report writing. This position interacts with both internal and external clients in field and office settings. The position requires travel to sites, primarily in the central Florida area. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary for the position. Job Description AECOM is actively seeking a talented and highly motivated Fire Protection Engineer PE for immediate employment in our Tampa, FL office. This position will work within the Building & Places (B+P) organization and will provide engineering expertise in relation to Buildings, Facilities, and other Structures within Tampa B+P. AECOM's Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, master planning, urban planning, civil engineering, and landscape architecture. Our Tampa office includes all disciplines and regularly works across offices and the region. Ideal candidates have a strong background and interest in vertical building development, having the ability to be part of a collaborative project team, be client-focused, and produce great works. This individual will participate in all aspects from conceptual to final designs and providing support activities during construction. The Fire Protection Engineer position presents an opportunity for a candidate to excel in their expertise and contribute to growing our growing team and expertise, leadership growth, and mentoring program. The job responsibilities for the position will include, but may not be limited to, the following: Serving as Fire Protection engineer on a variety of building and facility project types, including mid-to large size projects. Role will have the opportunity to serve as “lead” project engineer. Able to organize workload and work independently on project-specific design tasks and lead project staff. Able to communicate and present with Clients and discuss/explain technical solutions to project conditions. Performing quality control reviews of work developed by others. Providing technical input to studies and design assessments, with expertise for benefit of client and/or team. Coordinate scope, schedule, budget in working with project managers and other senior level team members. Familiarity and working with AutoCAD and Revit, as working platforms for delivering design. Mentoring and providing guidance to junior level staff for specific technical design aspects and professional service. Provide direction to prescriptive and performance-based specifications. Participating in development of technical proposals (including estimates for the engineering budget and schedule) Reviewing permitting agency/engineering standards and regulations necessary to develop proper project design and permitting applications. Work closely with other departments from the AECOM project team/office, building engineering, architecture, interiors, traffic engineers, and others, to provide value and partner in project opportunities. Participating and supporting site field investigations and construction related activities. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS in Engineering plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (current FL PE License), or able to register for the Principles & Practice (PE) Exam within 1 year. Demonstrated experience working on building and facility design projects specifically in a fire protection and life safety specialty. Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications) Experience using AutoCAD and Revit. Demonstrated experience with industry software utilized for fire protection and life safety calculations. Demonstrated experience in roles/assignments leading projects, clients, and teams. Demonstrated knowledge in building type categories, construction assemblies, and relevant codes and standards for fire protection and life safety. Valid US Driver's License required, as a condition of employment must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review. Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in Engineering or Fire Protection is preferred 8 years of recent experience in Fire Protection engineering and building development projects covering the full aspects of building design - survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration, with direct experience in design and permitting of projects. Experience serving as lead engineer on a variety of building types for vertical and horizontal engineering. Municipal and Federal experience is a plus. Experience with permitting projects with local AHJs and required jurisdictions related to specific projects. Demonstrated experience in planning and organizing tasks and teams in a deadline intensive environment. Experience working in large and/or complex projects/programs is beneficial.
