Your Opportunity Stantec is currently seeking Mid and Senior Level Regulatory Compliance Inspectors to provide technical support on Transportation projects. This position will be part of Stantec's Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address a variety of permitting, approval and compliance requirements for land disturbing associated with Virginia Department of Transportation projects, and other Virginia transportation authorities and locality project needs. Our staff members have established excellent working relationships with regulatory, advisory and Transportation agencies throughout the mid-Atlantic, and our regulatory knowledge and scientific expertise allow us to help our clients develop the most effective approach to securing regulatory approvals, permit compliance and project delivery. Your Key Responsibilities * Perform ESC, SWPPP and VWP inspections for sensitive transportation projects and high-profile clients. * Provides technical expertise on environmental compliance for construction activities operations. * Documents prescribed work is in compliance with permit conditions, plans, contract documents, and environmental laws and regulations. * Manage VPDES/VWP projects and support staff to maintain transportation project compliance. * Communicate and collaborate with the client representatives, contractors, agency personnel, and other Environmental/Regulatory Specialists to help ensure project compliance. * Interpreting and applying state and federal environmental laws, regulations, policies, and best management practices. * Carry out project work within agreed time-frames and on budget. * Assist in the creation of technical documents in support of regulatory submissions, including permit applications, SWPPP and compliance reporting and summaries. * Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, standards and guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation. * Participate in team and independent based work. Your Capabilities and Credentials * Experience in agency permit compliance, enforcement procedures, violations, and their resolution. * Strong technical writing skills, effective communication, attention to detail and organizational skills. * Familiarity with federal and state regulations and permitting requirements as they pertain to wetlands, natural resources, and cultural resources. * Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel. * Ability to independently create and work within budgets, manage time, and schedule work. * Demonstrated team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative. Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field preferred. * 5+ years of experience with VPDES/SWPPP, permitting, SWPPP, pollution prevention, technical reporting, land disturbing activities, wetland and streams issues, and environmental permit compliance with an emphasis on Transportation work. * VDOT's VSMP, ESCCC, Environmental, and MS4 Programs including C-107 process. * Certification as a VA DEQ ESC/SWM Inspector. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Review and approve daily manhour reports for inspection and testing staff each day. Assign activities for inspection staff to identify in report that correlates to the KCI Schedule of Values (SOV) and pending changes (PCOs). On-Site Equipment: Assign equipment to inspection and testing staff and verify that the equipment use-age follows all ASTM standards for proper use, storage and maintenance. Assure that all equipment is tracked and maintained in a secure manner and that access is limited to equipment in order to maintain in good working order. Assure that equipment is not re-assigned ad hoc and that equipment is accounted for at all times. Assure that all on-site testing equipment is calibrated in accordance with ASTM standards for that equipment. Your Opportunity Stantec GS seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead projects & play an integral part in our growing Built Infrastructure practice group. The ideal candidate is a technically strong, self-driven engineer who can support and lead portions of multiple design projects, coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams, and contribute high-quality technical solutions across a wide range of building and industrial systems. You will work with as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Lead Engineer. You will lead in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain electrical power, lighting, fire alarm and other low voltage systems for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit and AutoCAD design, calculations, and field work. Key Responsibilities * Creates electrical design documentation for the electrical discipline by being proficient in relevant software programs such as Revit / AutoCAD and providing direction to junior staff via markups or other method to convey design intent and expectations. * Key position on project teams involved in assignments primarily for large, high-profile Department of Defense program initiatives * Coordinates with other building disciplines (architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent (either working directly with these other disciplines or by providing guidance / review of junior staff performing this coordination). * Consults with clients to determine project plans and schedules * Serve as technical advisor on assigned projects and issues of moderate complexity involving electrical engineering, efficiency, operations, and/or planning. * Maintains positive client relationships * Prepares designs, studies and reports * Directly supervise employees and at times subcontractors involved in the project * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws * Evaluate, select, and apply advanced design & engineering methods with responsibility for project assignments including programming, design development, and coordination and production of construction documents * Develop and prepare construction documents, plans (e.g. one-line diagrams, panel schedules, etc), and details; and specifications; review and redline drawing sets * Evaluate and integrate engineering systems and implement code, accessibility, and zoning analyses. * Performs field work (or reviews field work performed by others) to review existing facility conditions for use in development of site-specific electrical design documents and to review work being performed by contractors. * Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants. * Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating exercises. * Ability to design, develop, optimize, and perform life cycle cost analysis of renewable energy electrical systems that support clean‑energy generation, storage, and distribution. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
