As part of a specially trained team skilled in trauma-informed response, this role is vital in ensuring the safety and security of the facility and the community it serves. The Crisis Response Team Specialist will develop specialized skills in handling multiple threat levels in the facility through a trauma-informed lens. This includes using de-escalation and the tension reduction cycle. The Crisis Response Team Specialist will remain mindful of the unique nature of dealing with each individual resident and be prepared to provide the appropriate response to neutralize any acts of aggression or mental health crises. This role offers a dynamic and challenging environment that will foster personal and professional growth. Educational and Experience Requirements Associate degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a closely related field OR A high school diploma or equivalent with at least (2) years experience in Law enforcement, military, and/or a secured/correctional facility. The Rural Access for Network Growth Enhancement RANGE programs serve Veterans who meet criteria for ICMHR services in rural areas or less densely populated locations. The RANGE Coordinator will remain knowledgeable about National, VISN, and facility level policies and trends related to ICMHR/RANGE Programing. The RANGE Coordinator will also serve as a point person and source of information and problem solving regarding ICMHR/RANGE issues for the facility. Other duties include providing intensive case management services, continuous quality improvement activities, evaluation/consultation, psychosocial assessments, Veteran groups, individual therapy, placement services, and referrals to various community agencies and hospital services to ICMHR Veterans. This position will function independently to provide administrative leadership to plan, develop, implement, and oversee clinical services and programming for Veterans that have a high degree of clinical complexity. The incumbent has full supervisory responsibility for all case managers (exception of nursing) and administrative staff within the ICMHR/RANGE Program. Supervisory responsibilities include performance evaluations, time, and leave, hiring, and disciplinary decisions. Duties include, but are not limited to: * Respond timely to consults sent to the ICMHR/RANGE program by interviewing Veterans utilizing questionnaires and other measurement devices while assessing the Veteran's emotional, functional, and psychological condition as delegated by Range Coordinator. * Function as case manager for Veterans in the ICMHR program performing duties to facilitate independent community living by coordinating mental health and community care. * Participate in development of a treatment plan for enrolled Veterans with measurable goals outlined based on relevant psychological, medical, and psychiatric information with the principles of treatment matching. * Assist Veterans in the ICMHR program in the preparation of materials needed for applications to various agencies for entitlements, then, follow the process of the application until a determination has been made. Serve as the major consultant for information on negotiating the complex processes Veterans encounter when interacting with government and community agencies. * Collaborate with members of the ICMHR team and other professional specialty clinics to provide comprehensive care to ICMHR enrolled Veterans. Conduct individual and family clinical interventions to facilitate the identification of substance abuse, psychiatric illness, and social needs as treatment issues. * Serve as therapist in treatment groups, individual psychotherapy, and family therapy as needed. Assess needs of ICMHR enrolled Veterans in regard to their substance abuse, psychiatric and medical disorders, and the treatments and medications required, incorporating teaching in the treatment. * Provide assistance with medication management for ICMHR enrolled Veterans. Conduct home visits and community visits to maintain and encourage community living. Collaborate with Adult Foster Care homes where ICMHR enrolled Veterans reside to facilitate community living in the least restrictive environment and to provide support services for the AFC homes. * Provide direct teaching services to staff and others as appropriate. Document the Veteran's progress in progress notes. Document significant events as needed. This position requires 75% or more travel to Veteran's homes. A valid driver's license is required. The SUD Coordinator is customer-service oriented, meeting a variety of emotional, psychological, behavioral, interpersonal, and social needs of patients with SUD. The position exists to provide administrative leadership to plan, develop, implement, and oversee clinical services and programs for Veterans that have a high degree of clinical complexity. The incumbent has full supervisory responsibility for all therapists and administrative staff within the SUD. The SUD Coordinator may also have to assist with training and education to include residents, interns, and practicum students in psychology, unlicensed LPMHCs and social work.
