About the Division of Youth Services: The Division of Youth Services (DYS) provides a continuum of residential and non-residential services that encompass juvenile detention, commitment, and parole. DYS is the agency statutorily mandated to provide for the care and supervision of youth committed by the District Court to the custody of the Colorado Department of Human Services. The Division operates fifteen secure facilities that serve youth between the ages of 10 and 21, who are pre-adjudicated, sentenced, or committed. The Division also contracts with numerous private residential and non-residential service providers throughout the State. For pre-adjudicated youth, the Division is also responsible for the management and oversight of Colorado Youth Detention Continuum, a State-funded, locally administered program that provides services to youth at risk of further progressing into the juvenile justice system. In addition to residential programming, the Division administers juvenile parole services throughout the State.

Description of Job:
Works with State Teacher I's and the Principal to determine what classrooms need additional support based on specific lesson plans. This includes covering classes/substituting when needed, and sitting with students to help with guided class work or computer based work, to include supporting students in special education in a paraprofessional role as needed. Informing the principal of testing commitments. All duties include knowing and implementing safety procedures and policies in a safe trauma informed setting.
Maintain a secure test environment and proctor MAP test, state mandated tests, and GED tests for identified students. Create and maintain a testing schedule that is communicated to all parties. Take and monitor tests, testing information, and results. Download reports from tests and various databases to include in assessment reports, for MDT and IEP meetings, and as requested by the school principal.
Enters testing data into spreadsheets, forms, and tools to be used by multiple stakeholders in a timely manner. Works with teachers and staff to create a safe testing environment, assists with giving tests orally as needed, follows up on monthly, quarterly, and annual educational data collection required. Collects information for MTSS, MDT, and other meetings to include treatment teams. Assists in treatment team data and information sharing. Updates and sends monthly data sheets and MTSS information to principal and DYS Education Director via email attachments. Monitors attendance and grades to report to principal and DYS education director monthly or as asked. Maintaining organized spreadsheets and documentation and other duties as assigned.
Duties to include:
* Classroom supervision in absence of teacher
* Troubleshoot issues with MAP test.
* Determine when MTSS data is needed for reports.
* Determine what information reports are requesting.
* Determine the level of support students may need.
* Informing the principal of testing commitments

Minimum Qualifications:
* Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment.
Substitutions:
* Two years of study at an accredited institution (equivalent to 48 semester hours) will substitute for the degree requirement.
* Tutoring knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics through a formal state or local academic assessment (e.g., ACT WorkKeys) will substitute for the degree requirement, but a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required if using this substitution.

The position provides entry-level marketable job skills to inmate students within an adult educational correctional system/facility by delivering instruction, training and assessments in Construction curriculum in accordance with the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) and/or the Colorado State Licensing Board (if applicable).
Job Duties Include:
* Teach and mentor inmate students individually or in large and small group classrooms promoting occupational, academic and transitional performance skills;
* Determine educational needs of inmate students to develop short and long term goals;
* Plan course content and develop methods of instruction;
* Develop and implement competency-based teaching aids such as instructional software, multimedia visual aids, or study materials;
* Lecture on theories, concepts and terminology of customer service;
* Select and administer appropriate performance assessments to inmate students in order to measure progress, course completion requirements, and to evaluate training/testing effectiveness;
* Ensure security, safety, supervision and monitoring of inmate students in the proper use, storage and inventory of equipment tools, keys and hazardous materials in accordance with CDOC regulations;
* Prepare reports and maintain records such as student grades, attendance rosters, and training activity details;

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Lead Teacher is responsible for:
Partnering with a multi-disciplinary team including mental health specialists, special education professionals, and family support workers to provide the best service for our families including home visits, family conferences, and implementation of Individual Education Plans
Develop and implement lesson plans that include large groups, small groups, and individualized play-based instruction to meet each child's unique developmental needs.
Delivering Creative Curriculum that are developmentally appropriate lesson plans, including activities geared toward social-emotional development and utilizing trauma informed care practices
Working with your Co-Teacher / Teacher Associate to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards within the classroom including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health and mental health, etc.
Incorporating individual schedule to meet infant and toddler needs into the classroom setting
Provide guidance and support to co-teachers, classroom aids, and volunteers to ensure developmentally appropriate Head Start practices and childcare licensing requirements are met at all times.
Collaborate with family and Early Intervention (EI) service providers to support goals on classroom functioning. Create MTSS goals for children that may have a suspected developmental delay and collect necessary data needed to support EI referrals.
Build family engagement and develop relationships with families through ongoing interactions that are responsive to the strengths, interests, needs, and culture of the family.
Conduct family visits prior to the child's first day of school to partner with the parent as the child's first educator to empower parents to make decisions about their child's educational experiences, and to create individual child school readiness goals. Conduct a second family visit in the spring to reflect on the school experiences of the child and the family. Complete two family-teacher conferences throughout the school year reviewing child outcomes and set new developmental goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To qualify, a candidate must meet one of the three bullets listed below:
An associate, bachelor, or advanced degree in child development or early childhood education (ECE)
An associate, bachelor, or advanced degree in a related field with coursework equivalent to ECE, CDA with Infant-Toddler Focus or EQIT AND a minimum of one-year work related experience teaching infant to preschool age children.
An associate's degree AND be enrolled in a program that will lead to a baccalaureate degree within two years of the time of hire.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
An Early Head Start at Catholic Charities:
Designs and maintains a physical and programmatic environment that appropriately supports and nurtures the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of all children in an inclusive classroom.
Establishes educational and social goals based on the composition of the children enrolled and the community setting in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, Colorado State Licensing and Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP), as appropriate
Develops and implements written plans for the daily activities that stimulate learning in all developmental areas (physical, social, emotional, and cognitive) for a group of children which may involve some children identified with disabilities.
Complies with Colorado State Licensing requirements.
Enroll in and complete coursework for the Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, if not already obtained or do not have an ECE related degree, and complete within 6 months of the date of hire.
Assists Center Supervisor in day-to-day supervision of staff in own classroom through delegating, training and providing insight and guidance.
Organizes classroom materials and equipment, conducts ongoing physical inventory, and replenishes to ensure adequately stocked.
Develops positive relationships with parents and families of each child
Coordinates and informs parents of scheduled field trips, extracurricular activities, and other scheduled activities
Conducts family conferences and home visits with each child's family to advise of child's progress and to develop rapport with families. Family and teaching staff will collaborate to identify child's areas of need and develop ideas for activities that will improve those areas.
Provides guidance and training, through classroom experience and resource materials, for other staff and volunteer personnel assigned to the classroom. Supervises and evaluates performance of this group.
Plans and participates in the preparation, setup and serving of meals and snacks.
Plans and arranges field trips and supervises children in attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must comply with all Colorado State Licensing requirements
Teachers in Infant or Infant Toddler mixed age rooms must be Infant Nursery Supervisor (INS) qualified.
Able to effectively manage a classroom of children
Effective interpersonal communication skills with children, parents and co-workers
Ability to remember schedules, programs, policies, and other details.
Ability to remain calm and calm others in an emergency and/or confrontational situation.
Knowledge of the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.
Must be currently enrolled in, or agree to enroll in, coursework to obtain the Child Development Associate (CDA) certification. The CDA must be completed within 6 months of the hire date.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Infant or Toddler Child Development Associate; and six months to one-yea related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Education and experience must reflect the specific age group with which the employee will be working.

Head Start is a no cost, all-inclusive, child-focused and family-centered preschool program for children ages 3-5. A range of individualized services in the areas of education, early childhood development, medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, family support, and parent education. The Head Start Teacher Associate will support the Lead Teacher in classroom duties in a classroom of 15-20 children, implementing curriculum, and maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance standards including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health and mental health.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Head Start Teacher Associate will be responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher with the following duties:
Implementation of Creative Curriculum.
Developing lesson plans.
Administering development, social and emotional screenings.
Conducting observations and notation of documentation.
Actively supervising children.
Teaching developmentally appropriate practices and utilize trauma informed care.
Ensuring compliance with Head Start performance standards within the classroom including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health, and mental health.
Partnering with a multi-disciplinary team including mental health specialists, special education professionals, and family support workers to provide the best service for our families.
Supporting peers by collaborating and sharing experiences to finding solutions together.
Use specific strategies with families to provide home language support to all English language learners.
Abide by Colorado Adult and Child Food Program Guidelines to offer family style dining for each meal served during the school day to ensure rich conversations and language development opportunities.
Collaborate with the Special Education Team (SPED) to support children with IEP's and track progress on their specific goals. Create MTSS (Multi-tiered Systems of Support) goals for children that may have a suspected developmental delay and collect the necessary data needed to support SPED referrals. Attend IEP meetings in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
Build family engagement and develop relationships with families through ongoing interactions that are responsive to the strengths, interests, needs, and culture of the family.
Support the Lead Teacher, as the child's first educator, in conducting family visits throughout the year including a visit prior to the child's first day of school to partner with the parent and a conference with the family in the spring to reflect on the school experiences of the child and the family. Assist with the data collection required for the Lead Teacher to be able to review child outcomes and set new developmental goals for two family conferences throughout the school year. Conduct family visits and family conferences in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
Assist with raising match funds for the program by supporting families in tracking learning opportunities at home that are connected to the learning taking place in the classroom. Help identify families that could benefit from partnering with Jeffco Prosperity Partners to gain specialized supports to obtaining self-sufficiency.
Participate in two weeks of annual professional and educational development. Participate in on-going monthly opportunities focused on trauma informed care, social determinants of health, family engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Work ongoing with supervisor to make progress towards identified current and long-term career goals. Attend monthly group coaching sessions to collaborate and learn from specialists and peers. Maintain credential in Colorado Shines Professional Development Information System (PDIS).
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED and one year of experience,
And enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of employment (Hours working in the classroom may be used for teaching hours required for CDA)
Child Development Associate credential (CDA), or State awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for CDA credential,
OR enrolled in a program leading to an associate's or bachelor's degree
CPR/First Adie/ADE Certified by State of Colorado
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
One - two years of experience in a classroom or center focusing on early childhood education or development
Experience implementing social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum in a preschool setting
Strong written and verbal communication and ability to utilize computer programs for documentation
