Looking for contract or agency work closer to home? The Iowa Veterans Home is looking for short-term CNAs to join our team working FULL TIME hours, on evening or night shift, for a minimum of 15 weeks or up to 780 hours.
Rate of pay is $27.02*. Evening hours are 2 p.m.. to 10:30 p.m. and night hours are 8:15 p.m.. to 6:15 a.m. Will work every other weekend.
This position is not eligible for benefits. The candidate may apply for a permanent position at the end of the 15 weeks if interested.
* Wage of $27.02 is based on employees working a minimum of 80 hours a pay period for 15 weeks.
Employees working less hours will have an hourly wage of $19.43-$27.02.
Must be a certifiedNursing Assistant. Performs basic personal care of residents following a plan of care developed by the primary nurse to meet the resident care needs. Will complete documentation and sign off in resident charts and care plans. Certified Med Aides will pass medications as indicated on MAR.

Join our team now for a $500 Recruitment payment for full time positions as well as $500 quarterly CMA retention payment. The Iowa Veterans Home is a long-term care facility, located in Marshalltown, Iowa, with the mission of providing exceptional resident-centered care and the highest quality of life to Iowa's Veterans and spouses. This position starts at $19.43 per hour with an additional $0.75 when passing medications.
Current state employees are not eligible for recruitment payments upon transfer, demotion, or promotion to another agency.
The Iowa Veterans Home has openings for full time Certified Medication Aides with options to work:
* 3 day work week; 14-hours either 6 a.m.- 8:30 p.m. OR 3:45 p.m.-6:15 a.m.; working 1 out of 4 weekends
* 8-hours on evening shift (2 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.); working every other weekend
* 10-hours on night shift (8:15 p.m. - 6:15 a.m.); working every other weekend
* Weekend package shift options are available with retention payments up to $5,000 paid out over 26 pay periods. Lodging and meals available upon request.
Must be a CertifiedNursingAide with Medication AideCertificate. Applicant will pass medications as indicated on MAR and perform basic personal care of residents following a plan of care developed by the primary nurse to meet the resident care needs. Will complete documentation and sign off in resident charts and care plans.

Quality Patient Care
Answers call lights to determine patient needs. Answers patient's questions, gives care as needed or alert nurse.
Performs a.m. and p.m. cares including baths, dressing, and undressing patients, oral care and personal hygiene.
Prepares patients for meals, assists with meals. May pass and collect trays. Feeds patient needing help. Passes nourishments between meals.
Give bedpans, urinals, assist patients to commode or bathroom.

Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration rate, intake and output and weights as directed.
Reports all unusual conditions or reactions to nurse in charge.
Helps keep patient room neat in appearance. Changes linens, runs errands and directs visitors.
Assist in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies.
Actively participate in team oriented decision making process. Is a team player, willing to be flexible and open to other's ideas.

Non-Certified Nursing Aide - Iowa Veterans Home

Do you have a passion for caring for our nation's veterans? Interested in entering the healthcare field but do not have a current C.N.A certificate? The Iowa Veterans Home has a new program just for you! We will provide you with the opportunity to become a certified CNA through attending a 76-hour course, on site, at the Iowa Veterans, as well as completed lab, and clinical sections of the course. Current openings for this position are for evening shift with core hours from 2:00 P.M.-10:30 P.M. and for night shift with core hours from 8:15 P.M. to 6:15 A.M. Will work every other weekend.
This program requires a two-part interview process. Part one includes an in-person interview. Selected candidates will then be scheduled for part two, an unpaid job shadow within the nursing units of the Iowa Veterans Home. Upon completion of the job shadow an evaluation will determine qualification for the position.
More information will be provided during the interview.
Duties within the CNA role includes performing basic personal care of residents while following a plan of care developed by the care team to meet the resident needs.
