JOB SUMMARY:
This is a TaxSpecialist I position in the General Tax Administration Program, Receivables Management, Field Operations - Collection Process, in the Tampa Service Center. The incumbent responds to phone inquiries, assists with registering new business entities, analyzes and reviews tax situations and returns, determines tax liabilities, and collects receivables in person, over the phone, or at the taxpayer's business location. The incumbent also provides guidance on Florida tax statutes and Department policies and procedures and assists in training and educating the public and Department employees.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
* Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.
* One year of experience collecting tax obligations within the General Tax Administration Program.
* Six months of experience in the post warrant role performing enforcement actions including but not limited to filing tax liens, garnishments, responsible party assessments, transferee liabilities, or stipulation agreements
SPECIAL NOTES:
* This position travels locally to taxpayers' business locations. In addition, occasional overnight travel may be necessary for training purposes. For all travel, you will use your own means of transportation. Travel costs will be reimbursed according to agency policy.
SALARY: The hiring salary for this position generally will not exceed $3,881.92 monthly/$46,583.04 annually.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Administration, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing the payroll for the entire Department of Facilities Management. This position is responsible for producing a timely and accurate bi-weekly payroll, executing all payroll duties for a set number of cost centers, and strictly adhering and enforcing payroll-related County and department policies and procedures as well as provisions of all collective bargaining unit agreements in a unionized work environment.
Overview:
Duties:
Verifies payroll is in compliance with all union contracts, department and County policies and procedures.
Prepares payment vouchers and back-up information for special payments such as Sick Leave Buy Back, Bargaining Unit special allowances, Comp Time payments, etc..
Resolves problems that occur with payroll and accurately corrects any errors.
Maintains payroll related records as well as leave documentation.
Updates payroll data such as annual changes in benefit time and pay rates; handles confidential pay and personnel issues.
Verifies accuracy on employee benefit time balances; ensures inactive employees are removed from payroll.
Performs closing pay activities.
Processes payroll reports and reconciles computer payroll system reports against JD Edwards.
Serves as the contact person for all payroll related questions; distributes paychecks.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Payroll Specialist
Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll for employees across multiple divisions, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires strong knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, labor laws, and prevailing wage requirements. Key Responsibilities
Process and review payroll for employees across multiple divisions and employee groups
Accurately review, audit, and validate employee timesheets, including manual timesheet reviews
Understand and apply various pay types (regular, overtime, double time, prevailing wage, PTO, bonuses, retro pay, etc.)
Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and labor laws

Under the general supervision of the Tax Administrator (TA) I, the Senior Tax Compliance Representative (STCR) independently performs the most involved, difficult, and sensitive compliance activities and has the ability to handle multiple and competing priorities. The STCR uses a high degree of judgment and extensive knowledge of statutes, regulations, and compliance procedures to resolve delinquent tax liabilities and/or delinquent tax returns. The STCR may assist the TA I by monitoring ongoing work activities and providing technical support to staff. Resolving case assignments may involve contact with the employer or the employer's representative by telephone, written correspondence, field calls or utilization of other collection tools such as 1733/1735 investigations, issuance of warrants, property seizures real and personal, etc. The STCR may train and assist staff in all aspects of the tax collection process. The incumbent should possess basic skills in the use of a personal computer or laptop with Microsoft Software applications (i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel), as well as knowledge of the various automated systems and internet sources used within Collection Division.
This position is headquartered in San Bernardino and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month.
