Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire Seasonal Engineering Interns for the summer of 2026. The Seasonal Engineering Intern Program is designed to give engineering students an opportunity to obtain on-the-job training from May 16 through August 15.
Essential Functions
* Provides accurate designs, measurements, computations, and documentation.
* Keeps the Resident Engineer/Technician informed of any problems encountered or deviations made.
* Ensures that work performed is in accordance with the specifications.
* Performs all duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Completion of high school or a GED
* Current enrollment in a college engineering program
Preferred Qualifications
* Understanding of design plans/blueprint reading and the ability to perform necessary technical computations in plan preparation.
* Education in math to the level of trigonometry.
* Strong computer skills.
* Knowledge of materials testing and laboratory testing equipment.
* Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.

Position Overview
The Division of Family & Community Services is seeking to hire an energetic and detail-oriented Social Services Career Trainee to receive on the job training for a period of six to twelve months in receiving and assisting customers seeking public assistance services available through Department of Human Services (DHS) programs in the Aurora Office. This position will develop the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to manage a public assistance caseload such as Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) including earned income cases, Medical Assistance No Grant (MANG) including Spenddown cases, Aid to the Aged, Blind and Disabled (AABD), Group Care, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or other such cases. This position also informs clients of the changes in the State's Welfare Programs, work incentive programs, child support services and encourages client participation in these programs; receives training in managing earned income cases and in determining continued eligibility for TANF; evaluates requests and identifies special needs of client for referral to appropriate services; and receives training in records and updating case status changes, such as change in address, unit composition and number, budget computation, SNAP and medical eligibility. The Division helps Illinois residents by connecting them with many programs and services. Through our programs, services and prevention efforts, the Division improves the health and well-being of individuals and promotes self-sufficiency and integrity of families of Illinois.

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Mental Health Technician Trainee for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois for a period of time from six and not to exceed twelve months, receive instruction and training in caring for individuals with developmental disabilities. Essential Functions
1. Receives formal training for a period of 6 - 12 months in the objectives, methods and techniques of meat and poultry inspection.
2. Under close supervision, performs antemortem inspection of live animals and/or poultry prior to slaughter for the presence of conditions indicative of abnormalities or diseases.

Position Overview
The Division of Family & Community Services is seeking to hire an energetic and detail-oriented Social Services Career Trainee to receive on the job training for a period of six to twelve months in receiving and assisting customers seeking public assistance services available through Department of Human Services (DHS) programs in the Whiteside Office. Position Overview
The Division of Family & Community Services is seeking to hire an energetic and detail-oriented Social Services Career Trainee to receive on the job training for a period of six to twelve months in receiving and assisting customers seeking public assistance services available through Department of Human Services (DHS) programs in the Sangamon Office. Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire Seasonal Engineering Interns for the summer of 2026. The Seasonal Engineering Intern Program is designed to give engineering students an opportunity to obtain on-the-job training from May 16 through August 15.
Essential Functions
* Provides accurate designs, measurements, computations, and documentation.
* Keeps the Resident Engineer/Technician informed of any problems encountered or deviations made.
* Ensures that work performed is in accordance with the specifications.
* Performs all duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Completion of high school or a GED
* Current enrollment in a college engineering program
Preferred Qualifications
* Understanding of design plans/blueprint reading and the ability to perform necessary technical computations in plan preparation.
* Education in math to the level of trigonometry.
* Strong computer skills.
* Knowledge of materials testing and laboratory testing equipment.
* Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.

Essential Functions
* Receives eight weeks of formalized pre-service security training at the Illinois Corrections Training Academy including firearms training due to requirements mandating qualification.
* Receives on-the-job training under immediate supervision of a qualified correctional employee. A
* Assigned each work week to another correctional employee to assist in running lines, yard, dining room, housing units, facility buildings, writs, observing individuals in custody, perimeter patrol, armory, counting, shakedowns, movement, etc.
* Travels by using a state issued vehicle to complete assignments.
* Receives one week orientation at facility.
* Given formal training in housing unit work, report writing, out-count work, yard work, running lines, individuals in custody at this institution and their assignments, chain-of-command, security buildings, disciplinary procedures, and any other training deemed necessary.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
* Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school.
* Requires elementary knowledge of resident behavior problems.
Conditions of Employment
* Requires completion of a pre-service security training course during trainee period.
* Requires successful completion of a firearms training course and learn the proper use of firearms during trainee period.
* Requires a valid appropriate driver's license and the ability to travel statewide.
* Must be eligible under federal and state law to acquire and possess a firearm and must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card.
* Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
* Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
* Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
