    Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. Mental Health Counselor III's serve as a first line supervisor for professional clinicians on a case management team or treatment team OR independently oversee and implement the activities of a major program area such as a satellite clinic. The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for Mental Health Counselor III that will be located at the Nevada Youth Training Center (NYTC), a 64-bed staff secure facility for male and female youth ages 12 to 18 located in Elko Nevada. This position will provide mental health services and clinical oversight for the treatment of youth at NYTC. This position may carry a caseload as well as provide direct clinical supervision to the other Mental Health Counselors on site. The Mental Health Counselor III provides supervision and oversight to Mental Health Counselors and Substance Abuse Counselor(s) at NYTC. This position will train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action; The MHC III provides training and oversight to MHC's completing diagnostic evaluations, substance use disorder evaluations, treatment planning and clinically indicated treatment. They may also be asked to assist in the development of policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives according to the needs of the facility. This Mental Health Counselor III position will serve as the Clinical Team Supervisor for the Nevada Youth Training Center. As the Clinical Team Supervisor at NYTC this position will be responsible for working with Medical Staff, the facility Psychiatrist and the other Administration at NYTC to best support the youth and facility behavioral programming. In addition, this position will provide reports and data in several meetings related to leadership and quality assurance/ improvement. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor 2 in our Elko District Office. Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home-based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. To perform the full range of duties a Master?s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of postmaster?s degree professional mental health counseling experience. Mental Health Counselors provide Intensive Family Services (IFS) to families involved with the child welfare system in rural Nevada. Staff provides in-home, family-centered, intensive services including counseling, skill-building, supportive services, advocacy, mental health assessments for children and their parents, and clinical case management to complex, high-risk families. Mental Health Counselors with IFS provide diagnoses to children in custody for access to services; higher level of care; crisis intervention; placement disruption services; and case consultation services for other DCFS program staff. IFS program does not replicate existing services and is not considered a mental health program, but rather a clinical child welfare program designed to intervene quickly with families where safety threats have been identified, and removal of children is imminent without effective preventative services. IFS prioritizes efforts to enhance deficient caregiver protective capacities to mitigate safety factors.
