We are presently seeking two EnvironmentalSpecialist 2 in our Office of Community Infrastructure. This position will primarily work in the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, the Brownfield Remediation Program, and the Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Grant program. This position will review and provide compliance assistance to grantees for reporting and reimbursement requests This role is part of the grant application review team, which involves evaluating grant applications for accuracy and working directly with grantees to ensure applications are ready for recommendation of approval. Some travel may be required to connect with communities and monitor grant activity, as needed, to support the program.
What you'll do:
* Evaluate grant applications for accuracy and completeness as part of the grant application review team.
* Collaborate with grantees to ensure applications meet requirements and are ready for recommendation of approval.
* Review and provide compliance assistance for grantee reporting and reimbursement requests.
* Conduct site visits and community engagement to monitor grant activity and support program objectives.

* 4 years training or 4 years experience in position involving geology or hydrology, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science and/or other comparable physical or health science field, earth science and/or urban and regional planning, and/or mathematics and/or history and/or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to positions in departments of transportation and natural resources) which included responsibility for conducting compliance monitoring surveys and/or inspections/reviews or investigations, or review of permit applications relative to oil and gas well operations or injection, annular disposal and saltwater injection wells and enhanced recovery projects or coal mining, or solid/hazardous waste sites or industrial and municipal wastewater dischargers, or conducting of historical and/or archaeological research or other research studies to evaluate impact of proposed transportation projects on historic properties or cultural resources, or collecting, compiling and preparing various environmental assessments, evaluations, reports and related documents. Training and experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
* Or baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science and/or urban and regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science field or mathematics or history or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to positions in departments of transportation and natural resources) with education to be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
* Or positions involved in providing financial, technical and administrative assistance for planning, design and implementation of environmental infrastructure and pollution abatement, and prevention projects, applicants must have completed undergraduate core coursework in business/public administration, public relations/marketing, political science or communications, or have 4 years experience in position involving public contact to explain policies, procedures and programs of agency, writing of promotional and/or explanatory publications and materials, budgeting, contract administration and working with others on team projects. Note: For all positions engaged in field work, applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in EPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period.

Overview
Under general supervision, is responsible for professional forestry and/or fire management work of considerable difficulty in planning, directing, and administering forestry programs; and performs related work as required.
An employee in this class either supervises professional staff at a state forest or performs advanced working level duties in a multi-county area which may include a state forest. This class differs from that of a Forester 2, in that an incumbent of the latter functions at the working level.
Responsibilities
1. Supervises subordinates by conducting performance evaluations, time management and schedules daily activities, such as fire prevention activities, facility maintenance, forestry programs, state forest activities, and vendor services.
2. Develops and interprets forest management plan information defining site index, basal area, soil information, and other variables to help make sound forest management decisions.
3. Interprets and communicates regulations to government agencies and citizens regarding state forest rules and burning law regulations to increase compliance and understanding.
4. May assist urban and community partners in developing urban forest management plans, provide technical assistance for urban forest health concerns, and facilitate urban forestry incentive programs.
5. May assist in wildland fire response, prescribed fire application, and all-hazard incidents.
6. Collects and analyzes forest inventory data such as tree/site data, landowner information, invasive/exotic species, and pathogen information.
7. Conducts timber sale administration activities and ensures all state polices are adhered to while disposing of state property.
8. Monitors logging activities and performs water quality checks on public and private land. Ensures compliance with best management practices and other agencies rules and regulations. Facilitates resolution regarding water quality complaints.
9. Uses GIS software to analyze and interpret spatial data to inform forest management decisions, develops mapping products, create forest management plans, and manage data for reporting.

The Bureau of Environmental Health and Radiation Protection is seeking a candidate to fill our Environmental Health Specialist 2 position. This position will function as a technical expert in the sewage treatment systems program and related applications of soil science. This position will:

What You'll Do: The Bureau of Environmental Health and Radiation Protection is seeking a candidate to fill our Environmental Health Specialist 2 position. This position will function as a technical expert in the sewage treatment systems program and related applications of soil science. This position will:
* Conduct surveys of local health district programs and prepare and review survey reports for accuracy and appropriateness of findings (e.g., interprets applicable laws, rules and regulation to correct or modify findings, recommends provisional status or sanctions or corrective actions in the case of non-compliance)
* Implement requirements of sewage treatment system program (e.g., reviews and recommends approval of tanks, pretreatment components, alternative wastewater treatment technologies [e.g., drip distribution systems])
* Review and evaluate verbal and written complaints related to sewage treatment systems, determine the required investigative work and conduct or direct field/investigative work to resolve the complaint
* Provide technical assistance, consultation and training to local health departments, state agencies, grantees, contractors, industry and general public in area of sewage treatment systems specializing in site and soil evaluations and issues
* Prepare technical reports and develop survey methodology, fact sheets, procedural guidelines, interpretive reports and technical bulletins
Registration as environmental health specialist pursuant to ORC 3776 & in addition to proceeding, must meet one of following options appropriate to area to be assigned:
* Graduated from an accredited college or university with at least a baccalaureate degree, including at least forty-five quarter units or thirty semester units of science courses approved by the director AND completed at least 30 months of full-time employment as an environmental health specialist AND must be able to provide own transportation.
* Or Graduated from an accredited college or university with at least a baccalaureate degree, completed a major in environmental health science which included an internship program approved by the director AND completed at least 18 months of full-time employment as an environmental health specialist AND must be able to provide own transportation.
* Or Graduated from an accredited college or university with a degree higher than a baccalaureate degree, including at least forty-five quarter units or thirty semester units of science courses approved by the director AND completed at least 18 months of full-time employment as an environmental health specialist AND must be able to provide own transportation.

• Conduct surveys and collect data on Ohio's fish populations, including propagation and care of fish; identify fish diseases; use chemicals for disease treatments;
