    Snow Plow Operators Minimum Salary: $22.50 - $24.25 per hour depending on experience *Seasonal positions can be filled prior to the closing date.* The normal winter season is approximately September 24 through May 8. Duties: Snow Plow Operators are responsible for snow and ice removal on State highways during inclement weather. Duties may include completing general maintenance assignments. Training will be provided. Hours: The hours needed may vary from a scheduled 20-hour work week (part-time) to 40-hour work week (full-time) to include response for snow removal operations or may be limited to response for snow removal operations only (intermittent reserve drivers). Preference will be given to individuals willing to work only during winter conditions. Requirements: Must be 18 years of age and have the ability to operate heavy equipment. Must have a valid driver's license and Class A or Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with a N: Tank Vehicles endorsement. If you do not have a N: Tank Vehicles endorsement you have 30 days from the date of hire to obtain it. The successful applicants will assist Plant Protection with plant pest survey activities. Plant pest survey activities involve attempting to locate exotic and invasive pests and weeds that threaten the agricultural industry in South Dakota. This position involves frequent contact with farmers, ranchers, business owners, or the public.
