The Traffic Data Technician performs traffic data collection studies on the state highway system in an assigned geographical region (Western South Dakota). Duties may include, but are not limited to:
scheduling traffic data collection studies; performing traffic data studies; setting, securing, and picking up portable traffic data monitoring equipment; retrieving, reviewing, and recording traffic monitoring data to capture accurate vehicle volume count, vehicle classification, and other traffic attributes on city, county, and state roads;
purchasing traffic data monitoring equipment, tools, and supplies. Conducting annual inventory to ensure adequate equipment, tools, and supplies are available;
performing utility locates on any component of the traffic monitoring system located underground/inroad when work is scheduled/planned to be performed at or near traffic monitoring equipment;
setting up, repairing, and maintaining equipment and tools.
A valid driver license is required.
Frequent in-state travel with occasional overnights stays required.
Anticipated work schedule April 1 through October 31 is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday. Anticipated work schedule November 1 through March 31 is five 8-hour days, Monday through Friday.

Corrections-related experience is defined as experience in which the employee provided a direct service to/with clients detained against their will such as custody/control, teaching, social work, nursing, food service, and general maintenance; or supervised offenders in the implementation of a program such as correctional industries. This experience is not typically earned in clerical support programs.
NOTE: Entry level officers and clerical support experience does not have the authority outlined in the minimum qualifications to perform components of offender management as it relates to classification hearings, ICC, Multi-disciplinary staffing, vetting responses to offender grievances etc. Therefore, experience as an entry level officer and clerical support does not meet the definition of offender management as outlined in the minimum qualifications.

Position Purpose:
Position reports, transcribes, and serves as the guardian of the verbatim stenographic record of official court proceedings in an accurate, impartial, and confidential manner. Duties may include:

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited or non-accredited court reporting school with a Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification and the ability to type 225 words per minute with 95% accuracy. South Dakota Notary Public is required to swear in witnesses in the courtroom. No experience is necessary.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation is required for employment.
5% increase in salary after successful completion of CRR (Certified Real-time Reporter) certification.
The fee for the preparation of a transcript from a court reporter's notes of evidence is $3.60 per page for the original. This position assists with cases filed with the court clerk's office including criminal, civil, traffic, and other cases from initial filing to final disposition by developing and maintaining case files, assisting with scheduling and assigning hearings, assisting in court room proceedings, and implementing procedures for monetary dispositions; provides customer services daily to a wide variety of individuals and agencies; performs magistrate duties as assigned; and acts on behalf of the court clerk in his or her absence. Duties may include:
* Maintaining case files for criminal, civil, traffic, and other cases from initial to final disposition in accordance with established procedures and designated timelines.
* Assisting in maintaining court calendars by scheduling hearings according to procedures.
* Providing customer service in many different ways to many different people by providing information about the court's protocols and procedures to make sure they receive correct information.
* Providing assistance in courtrooms by maintaining case files and minutes of proceedings; handling in-court exhibits; empaneling juries; recording proceedings; being responsible for sound and video equipment; and providing court interpretive services when needed to facilitate processes of the court.
* Performing clerk magistrate duties as assigned to assist the circuit court in disposing of civil actions and to provide direct court contact for average citizens.
* Performing other work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or possession of a GED certificate and one year of general clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Upon hire the successful applicant must meet the following requirements before beginning employment:
1. MUST BE A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES,
2. RESIDENT OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA, AND

Additional duties include: roving interpretation, developing programs for year-round use for community and onsite programs, checking and restocking supplies, interacting with visitors as host at the visitor centers, and assisting in maintaining, opening, closing, and daily operations of the buildings, vehicles, and artifacts utilized for programs and exhibits. A basic understanding and knowledge of natural history is beneficial but not required.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

This opening is for a full-time position with the South Dakota Department of Health for a Dietitian Manager in the Office of Family Nutrition Services (OFNS). The Dietitian Manager provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the Office of Family Nutrition Services Programs within the assigned region.
