Position Purpose:
This position assists with cases filed with the court clerk's office including criminal, civil, traffic, and other cases from initial filing to final disposition by developing and maintaining case files, assisting with scheduling and assigning hearings, assisting in court room proceedings, and implementing procedures for monetary dispositions; provides customer services daily to a wide variety of individuals and agencies; performs magistrate duties as assigned; and acts on behalf of the court clerk in his or her absence. Duties may include:
* Maintaining case files for criminal, civil, traffic, and other cases from initial to final disposition in accordance with established procedures and designated timelines.
* Assisting in maintaining court calendars by scheduling hearings according to procedures.
* Providing customer service in many different ways to many different people by providing information about the court's protocols and procedures to make sure they receive correct information.
* Providing assistance in courtrooms by maintaining case files and minutes of proceedings; handling in-court exhibits; empaneling juries; recording proceedings; being responsible for sound and video equipment; and providing court interpretive services when needed to facilitate processes of the court.
* Performing clerk magistrate duties as assigned to assist the circuit court in disposing of civil actions and to provide direct court contact for average citizens.
* Performing other work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or possession of a GED certificate and one year of general clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Upon hire the successful applicant must meet the following requirements before beginning employment:

Summary:
The focus of this position will be to lead a team that provides mechanical maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, equipment repair, and laundry services for the facility. * Perform skilled building maintenance tasks in the areas of electrical, plumbing, finish carpentry, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, painting, locksmith, and preventive maintenance to provide for the continued, safe, and efficient operation of the facility and associated areas.
* Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure the continued operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
* Repairs steam radiators and air handling units by replacing valves, air lines, controls, thermostats, and circulation pumps.
* Maintains air conditioning units by adding coolant, cleaning coils, replacing filters, and adjusting controls.
* Repairs or replaces plumbing lines and fixtures in buildings or facilities to ensure continued, safe, and sanitary operations.
* Measures, cuts, and installs appropriate pipes, fittings, and valves.
* Builds or remodels the interior and exterior of buildings to meet the required maintenance needs of the facility and complete work orders.
* Completes required reports and records to provide or verify costs associated with the completion of tasks and to account for activities.
* Accounts for equipment, tools, and supplies and verifies their distribution.
* Completes general maintenance duties to ensure the safe and continued operation of the facility.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Decision-making authority:
* Decisions made include specifying the material needed to do the jobs; how to do a job to ensure that design and code criteria are followed; assigning and scheduling building maintenance workers to do jobs; the design of remodeling or construction projects; conducting performance appraisals of staff; approving annual or sick leave requests; expending budget dollars for materials and supplies; and ordering supplies and materials.
* Decisions referred include the major purchase of equipment; major remodeling projects; when to bring in contractors to complete the project; recommendations regarding staff changes and disciplinary actions; budget adjustments; and changes in policies or procedures.
Working Conditions:
Duties are typically performed within a particular building but may be required to be outside to inspect projects on the exteriors of buildings. The incumbent may be exposed to hazards associated with mechanical rooms, tunnels, in crawl spaces and to asbestos lined areas.

Two (2) years of corrections experience where knowledge of offender classification, offender disciplinary system, grievance process, housing assignments and offender programs was obtained and Role Modeling Pro-Social Behaviors while maintaining Positive Professional Communications by providing offender population with Crisis Intervention was demonstrated.
Corrections-related experience is defined as experience in which the employee provided a direct service to/with clients detained against their will such as custody/control, teaching, social work, nursing, food service, and general maintenance; or supervised offenders in the implementation of a program such as correctional industries. This experience is not typically earned in clerical support programs.
NOTE: Entry level officers and clerical support experience does not have the authority outlined in the minimum qualifications to perform components of offender management as it relates to classification hearings, Multi-disciplinary staffing, vetting responses to offender grievances etc. Therefore, experience as an entry level officer and clerical support does not meet the definition of offender management as outlined in the minimum qualifications.

Geologist Assistant (Summer Seasonal)

Minimum Salary: $16.36 Hourly *Seasonal positions can be filled prior to the closing date.* Seasonal Geologist Assistants will assist Geological Survey personnel with tasks related to the mapping of the ground water resources and geology of the State. Tasks will include drilling of test holes and installation of monitoring wells, water sampling, mapping, data analysis, and GIS. The duration of employment is estimated to begin in May 2026 and end in August 2026. Specific start/end dates will be arranged with the hired candidates.
Geologist Assistants will:
learn the technology of various drilling methods;
learn how monitoring wells are installed and sampled;
learn mapping techniques;
learn how to interpret geologic and hydrologic information;
assist with geophysical logging of test holes and see how the logs are used to interpret subsurface geology;
assist in the installation of monitoring wells;
gain hands-on experience that will be valuable for future work in the geologic or environmental sciences; and
gain experience seeing and interpreting drill cuttings or core recovered from test holes in glacial and bedrock sediments.
Most of their time will be spent working in the field, but some time will be spent in an office environment. State vehicles will be utilized for transportation during work activities. The work will commonly require up to 3 nights away from the office each week. Overnight stays while working in the field will be arranged for and paid for by the Geological Survey. The work week will commonly consist of working 40 hours in 4 days, allowing for a 3-day weekend. Field work will be conducted in extreme weather conditions during the summer. There will be physical labor involved with up to 50 lbs of lifting required.
In addition to a regular hourly wage, employees receive per diem when away from the office and working in the field. A typical field work week involves leaving the office at 7:00 a.m. on Monday and returning to the office about noon on Thursday. In such a scenario, the seasonal employee would be paid $120 in per diem that week.
General Requirements:
Full- or part-time college student status.
Valid drivers license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of how to use topographic and geologic maps.
Knowledge of how to use GIS software.
