This position is assigned to the Southeastern Region and the successful candidate will be required to live in or convenient to the New Kent and Southampton Counties. The Southeastern Region includes the following areas of coverage: Powhatan, Amelia, Chesterfield, Petersburg, Mechanicsville, New Kent, Newport News, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk. The area of coverage is subject to change based on Agency needs. Duties include but not limited to: Enforcement of a comprehensive system of inspection laws and regulations designed to provide and maintain a safe, unadulterated, wholesome and accurately labeled meat and poultry supply. Provide training, guidance and technical assistance to develop and maintain inspector performance. Provide technical assistance to establishments; relief for inspectors on all shifts including evenings, nights and weekends, and supervisors when necessary and reviewing inspected and exempt facilities to ensure conformity with regulation. Provide first line supervision to meat & poultry inspectors; reviewing inspector's performance and knowledge of HACCP, SSOP, SPS, PHIS, establishment recalls and noncompliance record documentation.
