Wyoming company history timeline

1890

Laramie witnessed the growth of the open range cattle industry, the coming of homesteaders and the building of towns which marked the final closing of the wild, western frontier in 1890.

1924

Wyoming also became the first state to elect a woman governor when Nellie Tayloe Ross won the position in 1924.

1925

She took office on January 5, 1925, 20 days before "Ma" Ferguson of Texas (elected on the same day) took office.

1951

The discovery of uranium, an important nuclear fuel, in the Powder River basin in 1951 coincided with the expansion of the country’s nuclear arsenal.
