Station Casinos company history timeline

1976

The company started out as a locals casino operator on July 1, 1976, founded by Frank Fertitta Jr.

1977

The first addition came in July 1977 when a Bingo parlor was added, bringing 15,000 more square feet of space, including an 8,000-square-foot Bingo room, 300 more slot machines, an enlarged buffet, a Keno game, and the property's first full-service restaurant.

1978

By April 1978, the facility had tripled in size to 60,000 square feet, including more casino space, a new restaurant and buffet, another new Bingo room, and a sports facility.

1979

In 1979, Frank J. Fertitta, Jr., one of the original founders, bought out his three partners, becoming the sole owner.

1981

In 1981, a new Bingo room was built, and the facility was a full-scale casino.

1984

In April 1984, the property tripled in size again, adding more casino space, along with upgrades of the restaurant and buffet and the addition of banquet/meeting rooms on a second floor.

1993

In the year 1993, the company was transformed into a limited public company with its first IPO offering.

1994

In May 1994, the company introduced riverboat and dockside gaming in Missouri with the opening of its Station Casino St Charles, located on 52 acres at Interstate 70 and the Missouri River in the city of St Charles, approximately seven miles from the St Louis airport.

Total revenue for 1994 climbed to $169.5 million, with net income of $9.4 million.

1995

Total revenue for 1995 jumped to $290.3 million, with a net loss of $7.9 million.

1996

Total revenue for 1996 jumped again, this time to $466.9 million, with a net income of $25.5 million.

1997

Total revenue for 1997 soared to $583.5 million, with a net income of $13.8 million.

1998

Free to focus completely on its operations and on moving forward, Station Casinos also announced that during 1998 its Las Vegas properties had generated $434.8 million in gaming revenue, representing a 25 percent growth rate over the previous year.

1999

In April 1999 settlement of the case was announced.

2000

Since 2000, Station Casinos has been proud of its Smart Start school partnership initiative with the Clark County School District (CCSD) to support high-need elementary schools* with financial and volunteer support to help improve education and provide classroom resources.

2005

As of the year 2006, the company was taken over by Frank Fertitta III, Lorenzo Fertitta and Colony Capital, for almost more than $3.4 billion.

2007

In November 2007, Station Casinos was taken private in a $5.4 billion buyout by the Fertitta family, the company’s founders, and real estate investment firm Colony Capital.

However, in early 2007 the company announced its intentions to be taken private in a management-led buyout.

2008

In 2008, both Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta were listed as billionaires in Forbes' annual list of the world's billionaires, but the purchase loaded the company with billions in debt.

2009

On July 28, 2009, Station Casinos filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

2011

Station Casinos exited bankruptcy on June 17, 2011, with $4 billion less in debt and with creditors putting the company's 18 casinos back in the hands of the Fertitta family and their partners.

2014

The current CEO of the company is Frank Fertitta III. As of the year 2014, the total revenue generated by the company is more than $1.3 billion.

2015

Station Casinos announced on October 13, 2015, that it would return to the stock market with an initial public offering.

Then in the year 2015, the company was again transformed into a limited public entity.

2021

In May 2021 Station's affiliate Red Rock Resorts announced plans to sell The Palms to the San Manual Band of Mission Indians.

2022
