Working at Steak 'n Shake

I was a manager so I got free meals everyday. Also the employees were very kind.

As soon as I started they switched the hours to closing at 12 instead of 10 with no warning to me. The one I worked at was a franchised resturant so it could be different for yours. They will blame me for everything from labor to food cost, closing late, etc. They are very strict on sick days and switching schedules. They never schedule enough closers to get everything done and still continue to add things on top of what we already have to do. It's honestly a toxic work environment.

The employees I work with are great. I love customer service. Also as a manager I got a free meal.

Dress nice and be yourself as always.

Change the management to be more realistic.

I liked the staffing and the way we was set to work.

It got a little busy at times but I had to get through it.

All the over time you could ask for

Lack of management, cleanliness, organization, and communication between higher ups

Being able to gain experience for future jobs

Drama .. plenty of illegal activity behind the scenes that I wish I hadn’t seen or heard about. And was threatened on job. And a lot of druggies there.

I liked working there because I got to interact with so many people everyday and making people's day with my friendly service.

I would say the downside of working there would have to be not getting paid enough to get by for my son & I.

Work flexibility. I believe if I have the flexibility to have a work and life balance, so that I am able to continue to work on a healthy lifestyle mentally and physically. That way I can be in a good state of mind when I do work.

I like seeing the same people and being able to connect with them on more than just the usual "hi, what can I get for today?" conversation. And I like that they are flexible and understanding of my school schedule.

I don't like that the minimum wage is not enough to support myself financially with the hours that I am working.

My favorite perk is that I can choose when I want to work based on my class schedule and the free time that I have.
