Job Description Peterson Power Systems has a need for a traveling EPG Field Technician. The person will work remotely and will be required to travel to data center locations throughout the country. SUMMARY The EPG Field Technician performs repairs to Electrical Power Generation (EPG) equipment at designated customer locations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign the functions to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Job functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules. Promote and work in a manner consistent with Contamination Control guidelines. Support company safety and housekeeping standards. Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship. Perform the following service operations with occasional supervision: Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work. Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions. Preserve component failure information for accurate failure analysis. Perform pre-delivery setup, installation, and start-up on all makes and models of Caterpillar engines, generators, and related products. Repair, replace, and rebuild engines and related systems and components of Cat and Non-Cat products in Industrial and EPG applications. Perform inspections on equipment as needed. Write service reports that accurately document activities. Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner. Solicit information regarding opportunities for engine system sales and service and pass information to engine systems Sales staff and Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR) in a timely manner. Operate company, rental, or personal vehicle as needed to transport parts and equipment and perform other field service duties. Ensure assigned company vehicle maintains a clean professional appearance and is in proper working order. Attend scheduled technical training and safety training in person or online (virtual). Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines. Travel up to 100% of the time to meet customer service requirements including overnight stays and out of territory travel. Be on call to respond to customer service needs during the evenings, weekends, and holidays. Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance. QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree from a fully accredited college or certificate from technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or other closely related field; and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in power generation or engine service, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Applicants must have the ability to travel 100% of the time.     Field Tech- Power Systems Technicians or NETA Technicians are expected to perform service, test and maintain various types of power transmission and distribution equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: * Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low, medium and/ or high voltage (to 500kV) electrical systems. * Low, Medium and/ or High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing * Perform inspection, maintenance, testing and repair of transformers, circuit breakers and all related equipment - 45 KVA to 130 MVA, dry type and/ or oil filled. * Perform maintenance, testing, reconditioning and repair on circuit breakers - low voltage 480 volt (molded case and air-magnetic) medium voltage up to 15 KV (air-magnetic and vacuum) * Experience filling and working with SF6 filled equipment and gas insulated switchgear, desired but not required. * Test and inspect low and medium voltage cable installations. * Experience operating high voltage test equipment including Doble Power Factor test sets. * Perform start-up, troubleshooting and repair services on controls and transfer schemes. * Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner. * All work and decisions shall be conducted in strict compliance of all regulatory laws. * Other duties as assigned by manager.
