Knowledge of various welding techniques, including TIG & MIG
Weld and fabricate parts as needed
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues
Conduct routine inspections to identify potential problems
Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flus-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)
Perform grinding, chipping and other metal preparation tasks prior to welding
Inspect welds and ensure they meet quality standards
Field work is required
Experience:
Previous experience as a Millwright or in a similar role
Proficiency in safety protocols, including wearing heat resistant gloves, flame resistant clothing, protective masks and safety footwear
Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to work with precision measuring instruments
Experience with stick welding is a plus

Ironworkers also unload, place, and tie reinforcing steel bars (rebar) as well as install post-tensioning systems, both of which give strength to the concrete used in piers, footings, slabs, and buildings.

Erect steel frames.
Direct cranes for movement/placement of steel members.
Bolt or weld steel in place. Certified welders (must have papers) make more money.
Operate forklifts and man-lifts.
Rigging steel with chokers for placement with cranes or forklifts.
Use lasers, levels or plumb bobs to correctly plumb/align steel.
Install plumb cables to temp align/hold building during erection/plumbing.
Use oxy/acety torches, gas saws or grinders to cut steel.
Install miscellaneous steel. (stairs, rails, guardrails, etc.)
Read and follow blueprints, sketches and other instructions.
Work Week: Monday thru Friday with occasional Saturdays.
Work mostly in Columbus and surrounding cities with some short term travel required . Mostly central/southern Ohio.
Ironwork is an outdoor job. Working in heat and cold a must.
Being at the job on time, every day we are working, is a must. On time meaning, ready to work at starting time. Doesn't matter how great of an Ironworker you are, if your not there.
