Stein Mart was probably one of the best companies you could work for up until 2009. In 2009 they downsized. The downsize eliminated some of its best people. Several of the best Corp executives. I can remember my District Director was of the people who lost her job. Our District never was #1 again in nothing. We often wondered if they eliminated her position because she was a very Strong Black woman. We loved her so much. She was an excellent trainer and taught us all so much.
Our Regional V.P.- KO. Such a horrible individual. Always talked down to you. Very nasty attitude. She was like a bull in a China shop. How she was promoted and why she was promoted is still a mystery. Of course I know they can see the error now. This is one of the many reason why they are going out of business. The wrong people promoted because someone at the corporate level liked them. Promote because of the abilities they have to get the job done.
The discount is by far the best or should I say was the best. Tomorrow is my last day
I love working with my team, it is the best part of my job. Everyday is super busy, which makes the day fly by and I like that I can suggest ideas just like people in higher positions.
Nothing really, my team is great and I like the work I do
I like that I can be dressy casual with jeans!
it was an easy part time job that was flexible with my school hours
the constant push for opening new credit card accounts, daily quotas, $1 "incentive" for every card application, constant need to appease to every customer even when they were wrong
25% of mechandise i guess.
The overall culture
Lack of communication on career development
Flexible schedule that includes working from home
