Stepan is seeking a Process Engineering Leader to join our Global Process Engineering team in Millsdale, Illinois. In this role, you will report to the Director Global Process Engineering. This position provides leadership of a process engineering group during the feasibility and design phases, ensuring a cost effective engineering service to each project, and ensuring HSE, operational, and financial targets are achieved. This position develops process engineering talent and subject matter expertise for Stepan core processes.
Key Responsibilities: Responsible to ensure consistent, disciplined use and leadership of the Front End Loading (FEL) process as applied throughout Stepan
Direct interface with Asset Managers and Supply Chain to develop, prioritize, and assign work using Engineering Service Request and Stage Gate processes
Collaborate with R&D to drive innovation and breakthrough strategies
Coach and mentor for process engineers.
Responsible for resource planning to assign process engineering and subject matter experts to support project portfolio.
Ensure quality process engineering deliverables are met and all projects are meet financial and schedule objectives.
Ensure the safe design and application of plant and equipment consistent with the principles of Responsible Care and internal and legislative requirements
Provide on-site and remote support through the entire project lifecycle including front end loading, detailed design, procurement, installation, commissioning, start-up, project closing and continuous improvement.
Provide process engineering and subject matter support to site manufacturing operations in both a pro-active and reactive manner, as required.
Conduct studies of plant performance and prepare recommendations to improve plant efficiencies, reduce costs, ensure environmental and health and safety compliance
Actively participate in all safety programs to continually improve the safety culture of the plant
Ensure site MOC / PHA / PSSR process is followed for all capital related projects Qualifications Minimum of 15 years of chemical industry experience
Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience
Experience using Front End Loading (FEL) and Gated Engineering Work Process
Substantial Chemical process experience, including batch/organic chemistry
Polyester Polyol and/or Sulfonation experience is strongly desired
Excellent understanding of chemical plants and processes
Ability to lead and work within a team

Conduct studies of plant performance and prepare recommendations to improve plant efficiencies, reduce costs, ensure environmental and health and safety compliance
Actively participate in all safety programs to continually improve the safety culture of the plant
Ensure site MOC / PHA / PSSR process is followed for all capital related projects Qualifications Minimum of 15 years of chemical industry experience
Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience
Experience using Front End Loading (FEL) and Gated Engineering Work Process
Substantial Chemical process experience, including batch/organic chemistry
Polyester Polyol and/or Sulfonation experience is strongly desired
Excellent understanding of chemical plants and processes
Ability to lead and work within a team

Stepan is seeking a Process Engineering Leader to join our Global Process Engineering team in Millsdale, Illinois. In this role, you will report to the Director Global Process Engineering. This position provides leadership of a process engineering group during the feasibility and design phases, ensuring a cost effective engineering service to each project, and ensuring HSE, operational, and financial targets are achieved. This position develops process engineering talent and subject matter expertise for Stepan core processes.
Key Responsibilities: Responsible to ensure consistent, disciplined use and leadership of the Front End Loading (FEL) process as applied throughout Stepan
Direct interface with Asset Managers and Supply Chain to develop, prioritize, and assign work using Engineering Service Request and Stage Gate processes
Collaborate with R&D to drive innovation and breakthrough strategies
Coach and mentor for process engineers.
Responsible for resource planning to assign process engineering and subject matter experts to support project portfolio.
Ensure quality process engineering deliverables are met and all projects are meet financial and schedule objectives.
Ensure the safe design and application of plant and equipment consistent with the principles of Responsible Care and internal and legislative requirements
