Stephens Media company history timeline
Professor Stephens has been involved in a number of media development projects overseas since 1993 – including two large State Department University-Partnership Grants, which he directed, with Rostov State University in Russia.
The company was renamed Stephens Media Group in 2002.
In 2006, Professor Stephens won a grant from the Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education for research on new models of journalism education.
In 2009 he was a fellow at the Harvard’s Shorenstein Center, working on a project on the future of journalism.
On August 25, 2010, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) announced that they will make efforts to assist Righthaven LLC defendants to the best of their ability.
In February 2015, Stephens Media was purchased by GateHouse Media for $102.8 million.
Stephens Media sold its interest in the joint venture to WEHCO on May 5, 2016, which assumed control of all operations of the newspapers in the joint venture.
