Summary/Objective
The Seasonal Educator is an integral part of the education team at the Flint Hills Discovery Center. The Seasonal Educator works closely with the Education Specialist II, Education Supervisor, and Curator of Education to implement a wide variety of engaging and informative programs including but not limited to preschool programs, day camps, adult lectures/programs, education birthday parties, and special events/ holiday events. This individual must also possess the drive and maturity to work independently, sometimes being the only staff member assigned to a program. This is an ongoing position with hours available throughout the year.
Essential Functions
Lead quality informal education programs on a variety of topics for youth and adult audiences
Assist the Education Supervisor and Curator of Education in the development of programs that are safe, inclusive, age-appropriate, and fun
Work independently on a variety of educational activities with minimal supervision
Effectively coordinate and supervise up to 24 youth varying in ages, including infants with guardians, toddlers, elementary students, and adults
Learn and demonstrate general knowledge of the historical, cultural, and natural resources unique to the Flint Hills ecological region
Learn and follow closely all program protocols and standard operating procedures
Maintain clean and organized program spaces, maintain and secure confidential program paperwork and utilize program supplies in an efficient manner
Maintain independence and flexibility in program delivery to account for changing conditions and guest needs
Work collaboratively with program partners, interns, and volunteers; maintain a professional image
Provide excellent customer service and open communication with colleagues and guests
Follows animal handling policies and procedures to maintain the safety and wellbeing of ambassador animals during programs and animal care/upkeep.

Requirements
Preferred Education and Experience
One (1) year of college education, work/volunteer experience with school age children, courses in recreation, education, psychology, or sociology preferred.
First Aid/CPR/AED Certification preferred.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work performed at indoor and outdoor facilities: Flint Hills Discovery Center; Blue Earth Plaza; various off-site locations.
Outdoor work may be performed in various weather conditions including summer heat and direct sun; noise level and activity level will be varied.
Stand and walk for extended periods of time, speak, climb stairs, push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
A Home-Based, Floater Teacher at Catholic Charities:
Supports the Home-Based team when planned or unplanned extended absences occur such as a Sabbatical or Leave of Absence.
Plans and develops with parents an individualized program for their family, through establishing a caring professional relationship and a climate of mutual trust and respect through weekly home visits.
Works with families to strengthen their knowledge of child development; helps parents understand how children learn and grow; plans and conducts appropriate activities together with parents that meet their child's intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs.
Works with parents to strengthen the family's knowledge of health and nutrition, by integrating health and nutrition education into the program, coordinating with other staff and parents health screenings for family members and providing information and referrals, if necessary.
Assists parents in strengthening their knowledge of community resources and supports parents in developing problem solving skills.
Provides developmental screenings and information to parents and families and provides referrals to other agencies when appropriate.
Plans and implements the appropriate number of socializations according to Head Start Performance Standards.
Maintains accurate and timely program data to meet reporting requirements. Enters data and generates reports.
Ensures accurate and complete records are maintained.
Completes necessary administrative duties (paperwork, etc.) timely and accurately.
Works with parents to develop weekly home visit activity plans based on each child's developmental assessment and the Family Partnership Agreement.
Manages and informs parents of scheduled field trips, extracurricular activities and other scheduled activities.
Prepares and submits internal and external reports and documentation in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, guidelines and operating standards.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying the practices and principles of child development and early childhood education; child health, safety, and nutrition; adult learning; and family dynamics.
Skilled in communicating with and motivating people, including people whose first language is not English
Must be knowledgeable of all Head Start Program Performance Standards
Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English and Spanish
Ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines within established timeframes
Ability to use computer programs such as Excel and Word, as well as use of internet applications to enter data, generate reports, research resources, and create communications.

Certify clients for participation in the WIC Program. Provide nutrition assessment, nutrition education and counseling for clients. Obtain client's height, weight and hemoglobin/hematocrit as needed. Florida Department of Health in Seminole County is looking for a self-motivated, hardworking individual fill our Nutrition Educator position in the WIC office. Hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.
This position requires traveling to other WIC sites as needed therefore you must have a current Florida Driver License.
This position may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disasters or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. This position will maintain confidentiality and security of records as specified by departmental regulations and laws.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent of this position functions as the Nutrition Educator in the Casselberry or Sanford location of the DOH-Seminole WIC Program and reports directly to the Senior Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to certifying eligible clients into the WIC Program, providing nutrition counseling and appropriate health related information to clients. Referrals to other programs which may include Breastfeeding, Healthy Start, Prenatal Clinic and any other social service agencies as needed. This individual may interact with Public Health Nutrition Program Director, Sr. Public Health Nutritionist, Staff Assistants (Clerical Supervisors), and other WIC staff nutritionists, clerical and breastfeeding staff and occasionally the Executive Director of Nursing. This position must always function under the direction of a licensed nutritionist.
Evaluates the clinical and anthropometric data and dietary histories of women, infants and children who participate in the WIC Program. Reviews growth charts with client / caretaker, completes the medical and nutrition questions in FL-WiSE, assigns appropriate risk codes and food packages. Follows state guidelines regarding approval of prescriptions for non-contract and exempt formulas. Ensures that appropriate notes/alerts are placed and that high-risk follow-ups are scheduled and completed when required. Client services are provided efficiently and with regard to the timely flow of the clinic and will be measured according to established productivity standards.
Provides individual nutritional counseling and teaches group nutrition classes to pregnant women, breastfeeding women, women up to six-month post-partum and caretakers of infants and children participating in the WIC Program. Documents nutrition counseling in a nutrition education note and/or care plan, as appropriate, and enters at least one individualized goal. Enters service codes into FL-WiSE by the end of the day.
Promotes breastfeeding to WIC clients. Ensures that the benefits of breastfeeding are discussed with prenatal clients and that they are provided with the appropriate educational materials and that this is documented in the nutrition education note or care plan. Follows protocol for scheduling prenatal clients for infant feeding class. Helps to ensure that breastfeeding moms and babies receive the needed contacts with the lactation staff and that timely follow-ups are scheduled according to protocol and individualized requests of lactation staff.
Accurately completes and submits certified employee activity reports (EARs) and People First timesheets by required deadlines. Ensures that time is recorded accurately, and that EARs and timesheets match prior to submitting to supervisor.
Represents DOH-Seminole WIC Program through active participation in outreach activities / community events that will promote increased WIC participation; attends at least one event per year. Trains and educates clerical staff on the quarterly Second Nutrition Education kits. Assists with training of new WIC staff, as needed. Participates in nutrition and breastfeeding education activities and completes all periodic DOH and WIC required training. Provides quarterly 2nd Nutrition Education Kits and training to Health Support Specialist staff.
May be required to perform the following additional duties in order to cover shortages, as needed: Lab duties in the absence of the Health Support Technician (height/length and weight measurements as well as finger stick for Hemoglobin); entering demographic data, issuing EBT card benefits and scheduling appointments. Performs other duties, as assigned, to support the mission of the Department.

Job description
Come join the exciting team at Central Florida Dreamplex in Clermont, Florida! We provide Occupational Therapy to all ages at our fully-equipped sensory gym. We also offer recreational programs and adaptive sports clinics that benefit our patients outside of therapy. This full time position includes health benefits, vacation/PTO and retirement. We have a full caseload immediately available!
OTR/ COTA Supervision:
Contribute to the occupational therapist's evaluation of client's abilities through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, data collection, checklists, and interviews with family, client, and educational personnel, and observations
Providing accurate data and input to OT in a timely manner for Evaluations, Re-evaluations, or discharge summaries
Contribute to the occupational therapist's development of individualized intervention plans of care
Treatment Planning:
General knowledge of human development throughout the life span
Knowledge of basic features of main occupational therapy theories, models of practice, principles, and evidence-based practice
Skill in gathering screening and evaluation data, completing checklists, histories, and interviews to assist with treatment planning
Based on the intervention plan, selects and implements therapeutic interventions to enhance client's performance in areas of occupation, safety, and social participation within the school, home, and community environment
Ability to select, adapt, and sequence relevant occupations and purposeful activities that support intervention goals
Ability to provide occupationally based interventions to achieve client participation
Based on the intervention plan modifies environment including equipment, materials, devices, and adapts processes including the application of ergonomic principles
Ability to analyze tasks relative to areas of occupation, performance skills, activity demands, context (s), and client factors to implement the intervention plan - modify treatments as appropriate
Ability to recognize occupational performance deficits in the areas of personal care, client role/interactive skills, process skills, play, community integration/work, and graphic communication
Uses professional literature to make informed practice decisions
Uses good time management skills
Ability to maintain safe environments, equipment, and materials
Communication/ Documentation:
Explains intervention techniques to client, parents, and educational personnel
Continuously monitors through observation and consultation client progress and the effect of intervention and need for continuation, modification, or termination - Communicate this information to the occupational therapist
Documents occupational therapy intervention in accordance with guidelines
Participates in multi-disciplinary team communication to discuss client progress
Ability to articulate the role of the occupational therapy assistant and the occupational therapist in the evaluation, intervention planning, intervention process to caregiver or other disciplines
Ability to articulate the influence of socio-cultural, socioeconomic, and diversity factors on client occupational performance
Ability to utilize technology for staff communication and EMR systems
Skill in effective oral and written communication / documentation
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and progress notes
